MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning friends of Bali and lovers of perfect waves and weather. Well there’s slightly less energy happening on the Outer Reefs (Tuban) today with wave height fading back into the 1-2ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. I was down on the beach checking conditions at 6.00am just on sunrise, just in time to see Bobby’s G-Land ocean cruiser speeding off with 16 new guests making a bee line for East Java , and I wish I coulda been on it for the hour and a half trip to G-Land … Anyway Kuta Reef was a touch too small to entice any surfers out for the dawn patrol. Middle Reef had too much water covering the reef making it too fat and full. But down on Airport Left there were a few waist to shoulder high waves breaking and would be the best option for a paddle outta the big 3. The tide was still running up and will peak @ 2.1mtrs @ 8.00am . So Middle Reef should have some fun sized surf around lunch time. Uluwatu would once again be the best option for more size and power today and you’d probably find wave height to be in the 2-4ft range down there. I’m not gunna bother though as I’m pretty sure we’ve got some more swell in transit that we should see arriving sometime in the next 36hrs, give or take. Weather wise outside here in Tuban we’ve got another beauty coming on, nothing but blue sky over us. But looking down South towards Uluwatu there’s some solid looking cloud banks hanging over that part of the island. Temperature wise the mercury will be up there in the 30’s (Celsius) by midday while the water temp is excellent for boardies or bikini’s @ 23 C . That’s about all for now folks but if there are any changes in the wave department I’ll get back to ya’s with an afternoon update. Don’t forget to check out the Mentawai surf report page and Pierre ’s Readers report Page if you want some more ! For the bodyboarders I’m gunna try and get ya’s some new images to drool over in another hour or so. Have a good one and hurry up and get those tickets to Bali locked in. Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$650.00 !!! We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is .
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Dewa Made’s 7.00am sms surf report sent from on location at Lakey’s says that wave height has scaled back into the 1-3ft this morning. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy (up until 11.00am when the Tradewind trashes it) and there were 7 surfers in the water sharing the perfect little left and rights on “The Peak”. While across the channel at Lakey Pipe there was one lone surfers. The early morning incoming tide also saw quite a few surfers heading down the beach towards Periscopes . 5 new arrivals over there yesterday pushed the total number of visiting surfers to 55. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
