**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning folks and thanks for tuning in to the baliwaves.com for the run down on todays surf and weather conditions around Bali and beyond . Sorry about yesterday, no report but like I said the other day there’s a lot happening for me at the moment. But anyway I was talking to young surfer from Tasmania names Eben earlier this morning. He surfed at Kuta Reef yesterday morning and reckoned even though the waves were perfect a solid 3-4ft it was a total shit fight due to visiting surfers with the “drop in fever” fresh off the planes and thinking they were still at their home break. I know there’s a lot of non thinking surfers who get out there. But what they don’t realize is that if ya get hurt out there it’s a long way to the shore. First you have to get to a boat (if there’s one parked out there) then you’ve got another 10 minutes to the shore, then you’ve gotta find someone with a car to get you to a doctor/hospital. There’s a good hour involved. Anyway this morning my 6.30am surf check of the Outer Reefs was looking real good for the lucky buggers that were already out there surfing. The wind was light off-shore coming outta the ESE @ 2-5knot . The tide was also playing it’s part and on the run up for a 2.2mtr High happening around 9.00am. Kuta Reef was reeling through wave after wave in the 2-4ft range, peeling off perectly for a good 80-100yrds. Middle Reef was picking up slightly bigger set waves but starting to feel the effect of the approaching High Tide. Airport Left was not getting as much swell as the other 2 reefs, probably due to the swell direction coming more outta the SW. Weather wise outside it’s also pretty faultless with blue sky galore, so we’re gunna be in for another hot one around the beach. I’ve got Dewa Made heading down to Uluwatu for us today to check on surfing conditions down there. As I’ve got more stuff to get done. But come tomorrow I’ll be out there chasing up some waves up for ya’s. Ok my fine friends have a good one and if you feel up to it tune in again later this evening for a close up look at Uluwatu . But don’t go away yet because Dan from the Super Bank in Australia has sent us through another batch of good photos, and the lads from the Kandui Surfing Resort in the Mentawai Islands have also got more surfing news on their page. Maybe Pierre has also got some new stuff on his Readers Report page. Alright then have a good one and I’ll get back to ya’s later this evening. Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$625.00 !!! Hey and don’t forget when ya day is done and ya wanna kick back for a few cold one’s make sure ya call into the “The Dewi Sri” live seafood restaurant here in Jalan Kartika Plaza, Tuban (the seafood at Jimburan Bay is not even in the picture). Anyway the boss Mr Nyoman Korna wants all you lot to know that between the hours of 3pm till 7pm, 7 days a week for the next month, he’s going to be offering ya’s ICY COLD BEER at way below Happy Hour prices. A large Bintang Beer will cost Rp12,000 (AU$1.70) and a small bottle of Bintang goes for just Rp7,000 (AU$0.90). So if you’ve got a thirst for ICE COLD BEER make sure ya drop by and say G’Day to Nyoman and his friendly staff at the “Dewi Sri” Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about . We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.

Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Our surfer on the scene at Lakey’s has filed through his 7.30am sms surf report and says that there’s some mighty fine waves breaking over there today. Surfing conditions are pristine with only a slight trace of off-shore wind and a good 3-4ft+ of swell hitting Lakey Peak . There were in fact 25 surfers riding the perfect left and right handers on The Peak and another 15 surfers across the channel on Lakey Pipe . Onkey says the total number of surfers visiting the area has just dropped under the 100 mark. Also Happening over at Lakey Peak next month the annual Dompu Pro open surfing contest will be happening from the 13th to 15th of August . All surfers are welcome to get over there and compete ! For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
