Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands. July 28th surf report It was super glassy and the sun was out early this morning. The swell had dropped some, but we were sure we would find some good surf somewhere looking at the good conditions. Our first boat hit Bankvaults where it was still a little overhead and glassy. The guys surfed a long time there, but they were not through. The headed to Beng Beng after their long surf at Bankvaults and scored again. Beng Beng was shoulder high plus with good conditions. The guys were out for about 8 hours before they got back to the resort! Our second boat also went to Beng Beng but returned in time for a late lunch and jet back out to Beng Beng for a second session. Conditions were really good and there were only a few guys out. They were very happy with their session and surfed until sundown. Hoping for our new swell to start showing tomorrow afternoon.
Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands. July 27th surf report . The swell dropped off some overnight. That was a disappointing swell. Forecasts looked a lot better than what actually arrived. No big deal. There’s always another one around the corner when you live in the Indian Ocean! The wind this morning was also not so good. It was blowing out of the northwest, plus there was a lot of bump in the ocean coming out of the west. 4 Bobs was pretty much the place to be with head high or so sets so we stuck around here in the AM. The winds started backing down late morning so we decided to search for something else. By the time we got going the wind turned east and was blowing pretty hard by the time we got to E-Bay. The waves there were head high plus and there were only 2 guys out so most of us went out there and a few of our crew went to Pitstops where there was only one guy out and it was shoulder high and fun. The winds were a little strong, but we all had a good time before heading back for a late lunch. Everyone cruised in the afternoon. Looking at smaller surf tomorrow..
