Hi and thanks for dropping by. The surf has been pretty small here on the Gold coast for the last few days…. But all is not lost!! a southerly change is due on Tuesday to bring a fresh swell that should be peaking later in the week. But unfortunately today (Monday 3rd September) is real small and messy. If You’re desperate to get in the water, it might be worth checking the beachies on the incoming tide before the onshore winds set in……. there are also some small crumbly waves on the points.
High tide:
12.51 am – 1.39 m
Low tide:
5.58 am – 0.13 m
7.16 pm – 0.37 m
These shots are from Duranbah Sunday 3rd September. The waves were around 2 feet and clean with light winds all day. Kirra Surfriders club was down there having a comp.
“Nitro” Alias Beau Walker was down there shredding the tiny waves on his Emery surfboard wearing his customary cap.
Beau or “nitro” is one of the stars of the kid’s afternoon show “the shack”.
Beau is an excellent surfer and could easily have gone into pro surfing but a career in Television and entertainment came his way and now he’s on every television in Australia every afternoon. Beau originally hails from Byron bay but now resides on the Gold Coast where he’s closer to work. And surfs every chance he can get around Duranbah or Snapper.
Damon Harvey was also out ripping on a Neal Purchase fish. Damon is much more at home in places like Pipeline and Teahupoo in Tahiti. But none the less he was tearing the tiny waves to pieces.
So good luck if your on the hunt for waves today… you might find some little beachie hidden away and pumping down south. Otherwise there should be a few bigger waves later in the week.
If you’ve got the munchies drop in to Dee and Paul’s Rainbow Bay cafe and try out there burgers. The best on the coast!! While you’re waiting for your meal, check out some of the photos on the wall and you’ll see some great old shots of some of the locals … famous and some not so famous. Local guys like Mick F, Josh Kerr, Deano and Parko grew up on their chips and burgers.
