Hi Crew, and thanks for stopping by to find out whats been happening here on your favourite holiday island called Bali.
Well to tell ya’s the truth not a lot has been happening here along Bali’s West Coast except for a howling W-WSW wind reaching gusts of up to 40knots over the last 2 days. This morning it kinda looked like there has been an increase in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left but it could also be mainly wind generated I’m thinking.
Today I had to take a run up the West Coast to Balian to help out a friend. And I was actually stunned to find surfing conditions at Balian clean and very surfable with wave height in the 3-4ft+ range. There was also 3 surfers in the water proving it. While here in Kuta / Tuban the wind is still howling and the ocean looks like a giant washing machine.
Talking to some local friends of mine at “Ayu’s Warung” at Balian they said that surfing conditions were perfectly clean through the early morning session. So if I were you and looking for a wave tomorrow morning I’d be seriously considering an early morning run up the coast. Unfortunately for me I’m still recovering from my motorbike stack (5 weeks and counting) ao I won’t be.
But I will be trying to make a quick run over to the East Coast in the morning to try and get you (those of you that are not here in Bali) some new photos.
Weather wise today the rain has let up and we have had a hot and sunny day, that is if you can find a nice spot out of the wind.
G-Land Surf Camp up-date; I was talking to the owners of this G-Land camp yesterday afternoon and they have assured me that they have been given the go ahead from the Indonesian dept of National Parks to open their doors through the middle of next month. So if any of you guys and girls want to get over to G-Land with out any crowds drop us a line and we’ll put you down for the 10% discount available through till the end of April.
Interesteing news dept: I was contacting by a group of good people who are in a way helping dispose of Bali’s huge plastic problem by recycling it into some nice looking products. Take a look for yourself at www.bombasticplastix.com
Swell forecast; At last it looks like we will get some decent swell again. According to the latest swell prediction guys we should start to see a new swell hitting our reefs around late Wednesday through till Friday. There’s also a bit more still in transit to Bali behind this.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban you’ll find that 1AU$=Rp7,375 and 1US$=Rp11,450 give or take 100Rupiah depending on vender.
