****MIDDAY SURF REPORT****
Hello crew and welcome back to your eyes on the waves baliwaves.com for the run down on todays surf and weather conditions here on the ever popular holiday island of Bali. Sorry the reports a bit late but it was my turn to get a few waves this morning.
Our 6.45am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height to have backed off a touch between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But still plenty of nice waves breaking in the 3-5ft range or head to to double head high. I was kinda figuring it would with yesterdays wave period at a solid 18 second period compared to todays 16 seconds.
Kuta Reef was once again the pick of the waves on the Outers, and when the off-shore ESE wind kicked in around 9.30am it was smoking through in the head to well over head high range. But once again when it gets too big for the wanna be’s surfing the Bukit we had another solid crowd of around 40 surfers out there. Middle Reef was still pushing the double head high plus sector and there will be some nice waves peeling off out there on this afternoons low tide. Airport left and I’m assuming Airport Rights are breaking in the 2-4ft range.
Our daily sms surf report from the G-land Surf Camp was calling wave height to be still a solid 6ft on Kongs and Money Tree’s and there were no surfers in the water at 7.00am according to my source.
Tidal info for today says we had a 2.3mtr High at 9.30am and then she’ll be running out for a 0.4mtr Low around 3.30pm this afternoon. Tomorrow also see’s the New Moon rising so we will be getting back to some big tide differences over the weekend.
Weather wise today here in the Tuban / Kuta area it’s a pleasure to be here, nothing but blue sky and heading for a top temperature of around 31 degree’s Celsius. I can also verify that the water temp is perfect for boardshorts and bikinis at 23 degree’s Celsius.
Up-dates; Well as usual I put in another 12hr shift yesterday and managed to get ya’s the video footage edited and on-line. It’s a 50/50 type deal with the first half surfers and the second half bodyboarders riding 4-5ft Padang Padang.
I’d also just like to mention that the Dewi Sri “live seafood” restaurant here in Tuban is once again under the control of the original owner and back to serving up the most freshest seafood in Bali. If you want to give it a try tell em baliwaves.com sent ya down to sample a free plate of their live prawns.
I also received some info from my old mate Andrew McKinnon on Kim “Fly” Bradley regarding his cremation and wake.
Kim “Fly” Bradley 1954 – 2009
Australian Pioneer of Bali, Kim “the Fly” Bradley passed away at his Bukit Balinese house on Thursday 26th of April, 2009. He had lived in Bali since 1973 and became the unofficial Mayor of surfing there. Such was his reputation and ultimate respect amongst the Balinese; he will be the first Westerner to be cremated at Kuta Beach on April 29th.
A Paddle Out at Nusa Dua and Wake at Tubes (which he built) will take place on the 9th of May his birthday when he would have turned 55.
Ok folks have a good one and we’ll be back with more of the good stuff for ya’s again tomorrow
Regards
