****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hey crew and welcome to the weekend on baliwaves.com for the big picture on todays surfing and weather conditions here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
And moving right along this mornings surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height to be still anging in there at 2-3ft between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and glassyish with the wind blowing lightly out of the SSE @ 2-4knot. At the time I was on the beach the tide was still low and Middle Reef was the pick of the Outers with wave height on the sets in the shoulder to head high range.
But as ya’s can see in these current photos I’ve loaded up today Big Tim and I hit the road for Uluwatu around 9.00am to find wave height hitting the Main Peak in the head to head high plus range. By the time we were in my favourite cliffside warung (Surya cafe) the tide was well and truelly getting towards the top of a 2.6mtr High so the waves were only going to get better as she started to run back out, and that it did !
Crowd wise this morning I was wondering where all the hordes from last week had gone. This morning there were only 12 surfers in the water on the Peak and another 3 surfers down on a long walling Temple’s. But as the tide did start to drop some of the local boys (Wayan “Gobleg”, “Mega”, “Alik” & local life guard Ulu legend Ketut Pitur put on a show for everyone. The numbers also started to pick up and there were around 35 surfers in the water by the time we hit the road at 1.15pm. To sum up Uluwatu today I’d have to say it was cranking and very consistent head to double head high, and the place to be if you were on the tube hunt.
Our sms surf report straight out of the G-Land Surf Camp was calling a solid 4ft hitting Money Tree’s and the top of the Launching Pad with only 4 surfers in the water at 8.30am Weather wise we’ve had a mainly sunny and hot day with the odd patch of cloud drifting across and top temperature of around 29 degree’s celsius.
Ok I won’t be posting tomorrow sorry, but I’ve got to take a run up to my wifes mountain side village and won’t make it back to Home Base until sun down (leaving at sun up). But I’ve also got another fist full of body boarding photos to edit and load, along with a few choice wipe out photos from Ulu today. These I will do my best to get on-line tonight.
Have a good one and “sampai jumpa nanti” (see you again soon)
