****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hello friends of Bali and welcome back to the baliwaves for another weekend full of surfing and weather info from your favourite surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well, as ya’s can see in these current photos I shot down at Uluwatu this morning things are a bit grim on the swell situation at the moment. First of all my 6.45am surf check on the Outer reefs was showing wave height kicking back into the micro class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were still ideal with the ESE-SE off-shore Tradewind (Kuta to Uluwatu) kicking in through the early hours of the morning.
But the boys staying with us here at Home Base still wanted waves. So we loaded up the US$8.50 per day rent car and hit the highway for Uluwatu around 7.30am. Driving past Impossible’s and Padang Padang there wasn’t even a ripple breaking at either location. But we could still expect to find Uluwatu breaking in the “as small as it gets” class of 1-2ft+. And yeah thats what it was, around waist to chest high plus but clean and tidy with only 15 surfers in the water.
But as tide started to push in hard for the 2.4mtr High tide expected at 10.00am the waves become very sluggish and short of power along with an increase in surfers, now hitting 40+ between the Main Peak and Temple’s. We hung out till around 11.30am as things wern’t going to be getting any better as the tide was now on the run out for a 0.2 reef exposing Full Moon Low tide.
Our daily sms surf report from the G-Land Surf Camp was calling wave height to have also backed off into the head to head high plus sector but there were still plenty of waves breaking on Kongs and the top end of Money Tree’s. I’ll be heading into their Poppies Lane 2 office later this evening to pick up another batch of photos taken over the last 3 days.
Weather wise today in Bali it’s been a mixture of cloud and blue sky with a maximum temperature of around 31 degree’s Celsius coupled with very high humidy level.
If your planning a trip to Bali this year (and I know you are !!) feel free to drop me an email if you want a helping hand organising anything.
Cya tomorrow for the Sunday Session (afternoon up-date)
