****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE****
Hello surfers and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for the Saturday arvo run down on whats happening surf and weather wise here on the happy little holiday island of Bali. And another thank you to Hendra and his team down at Uluwatu for these latest photos.
This mornings surf recon of the Outer Reefs was unfortunately showing a big drop in wave height betwen Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Kuta Reef is still peeling off nicely in the waist to waist high plus sector, good for the grommets out there today. Middle Reef was slightly bigger breaking in the waist to head high class but with somewhere between 20-30 surfers battling for the sets. Airport Left was lucky to be hitting waist high. And if our swell forecast holds true as it has so far tomorrows going to be a good day to have a rest surfing wise.
Best bet for a wave today & tomorrow is going to be at Uluwatu.
Surfing conditions are clean and tidy with the wind blowing straight off-shore between Kuta and Ulu. Coming out of the ESE-SE @ 10-12knot+
Tidal info, today we had a 2.1mtr High @ 7.30am and is now running back out for a 0.6mtr Low @ 2.00pm. And with the next Full moon approaching on the 7th we will start getting back to some bigger and better tidal ranges.
Weather wise, once again it’s nothing but perfect holiday stuff with blue sky and sunshine. heading for a maximum temperature of around 32 degree’s along the beach.
Swell forecast; Saturday and the game is just about over for this swell, come Sunday the only place that will be breaking is down at Uluwatu and then only in the 2-3ft (waist to head high at best). But further out down in the Indian Ocean there is another system in transit that we should start producing some fresh waves around Wednesday / Thursday next week. This new system is really only going to get us through till Friday with waves up to 4-6ft, head high plus to double head high plus depending on location. Then on Saturday backing off again. But then again on Sunday next week it looks like we’ll be in for another solid boost with a much larger system moving in on us.
G-land; Ok the 10% discount for the early bookings into the G-Land Surf Camp has finished but I’ve spoken with the boss and he’s still prepared to give anyone who mentions baliwaves.com a 5% discount on standard, twin share and fan bungalows and a 10% discount on their air conditioned bungalows. Just mention baliwaves.com at their office and you’ll get money back in your pocket.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1US$=Rp10,150 — 1AU$=Rp7,990 — give or take a few Rupiah depending on vendor.
Here’s a few tips for any new visitors, 1/ don’t change your dollars to Rupiah at home, you’ll get a much better rate over here in Bali. 2/ If you need to change dollars at the airport when you arrive only change enough to get you to your hotel. The airport also has lower rates than on the street. 3/ Changing dollars with the money exchanging counters on the streets always use the vendors that display a “no commission fee” sign.
Ok crew have a good one and make the most of the weekend where ever you may be
Talk to ya’s again soon
