****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hello again my fine surfing friends and welcome back to your baliwaves.com for today’s look at surfing and weather conditions here on the happy little holiday island of Bali.
Well hows this weather hey… This mornings surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban wasn’t showing anything that a man or even a grommet could paddle onto. 6-6inches plus of wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But my guests had to surf, so it was down to Uluwatu on the southern extremity of the island. Wave height at Ulu was a little more respectable with waist to shoulder high plus set waves hitting the Main Peak and Temple sections of the reef. Crowd wise she would have peaked at around 60+ surfers, mainly learn to surfer’s on their damned mini mals. But God love em, they all looked like they were having fun out there today. That’s what it’s all about, right. Driving back home past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there was barely a ripple breaking all the way down to Bingin.
Surfing conditions today were once again pert near perfect, especially for this time of the year. Clean ESE off-shore wind @ 2-6knot turn a little more to the SSE through the afternoon.
Tidal info for today had a 1.7mtr High @ 10.00am and then running out for a 0.9mtr Low around the 3.30pm mark
Weather wise the day started off with pure blue sky and sun shine here in Tuban but on the road South we did encounter some rain. This afternoon and the sky is starting to cloud over and possibly produce a few drops later this evening.

Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa. A friend of mine has just returned from Lakey Peak with some disturbing news and has asked me to pass it on to anyone planning a trip over to Lakey’s. Firstly it starts off at Bima Airport where you touch down in Sumbawa. The Imigration officers are requiring that all visitors (no one but surfers go there…) bring their original passport with them photocopies are not exceptable, unless that is you pay them to wave the requirement. Secondly while surfing down at Periscope’s (one of the most sickest right handers ever) my friends wife remained on the beach while the boys went surfing. Suddenly a local with the apropriate terrorist style head covering appeared from behind her and made a grab for their backpack. Automatically the lady held onto the bag and started to scream for help. Then the thief pulled a knife out and started slashing at the bag and the lady, resulting in a nasty cut on her forearm. Luckily the boys in the surf heard and saw the struggle and made a bee line to the shore. So proceed with caution.
