Kuta Reef to Uluwatu, 17th March 2010

17th March ’10
****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****

Morning folks and welcome back to the baliwaves for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali. And I’m sure that everyone already here in Bali is well rested after yesterdays day of rest (Nypie Day) and raring to get at the waves. I had to drop off a couple of friends at the airport on the eve of Nypie Day and I couldn’t believe how many people were desperately trying to leave the island. There was a line up of at least 1,000 people just to get inside the terminal building.

Anyway know one know’s what the surf was like yesterday. But this morning’s 6.45am surf check on the good old Outer Reefs here in Tuban was (as previously predicted 1 week earlier) showing some very nice waves peeling off in the 3-4ft+ range, between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Well on Kuta Reef anyway, it appears the swell direction has a lot of westerly direction in it this morning, as there’s bugger all breaking on Airport Left and even Middle Reef for that matter. Kuta Reef on the other hand is rattling off wave after wave in the chest to well over head region, and only two surfers in the water by 7.00am. So that’s where todays photos will be coming from later this morning when the boys eventually wake up, I’m thinking.

Surfing conditions are once again ideal with a very light E – ENE wind just starting to stir. So it’s another round of clean off-shore wind between Kuta and Uluwatu.

Tidal info for today has us down with a solid 2.5mtr High @ 11.30am and then draining back out off the reefs with a 0.2mtr Low around 6.00pm.

Weather wise it’s blue sky and clean sailing. Temperature wise the mercury should easily bust the 32 degree Celsius mark by midday.

Looking for a wave today your not going to have much trouble here in Bali. Canggu and it’s neighboring breaks should have plenty on offer as the tide starts to run in. Balangan would be another good option down south on the Bukit. With the tide running in the Main Peak and Temple sections of Uluwatu will be producing some solid waves up to double head high at least. Later this afternoon on the lower end of the tide Middle Reef will have some good one’s. Bingin / Impossible’s and the Racetrack section of Uluwatu, and for the body boarders there might even be a few small ones at Padang Padang for ya’s towards sunset time.

Swell Prediction for the next 7 days; Buckle up, there ain’t gunna be no shortage of waves !!!!
