Kandui Surf Resort Mentawai Islands, The Trip part 4

The Trip part 4

We were kind of expecting a little break in the action.  The swell was looking
noticeably smaller out front and we had a long breakfast and no one was in any hurry
to go looking for waves.  Eventually, we got a boat together and the plan was to
head over to Nipusi.  But our wise surf guides decided to check Rifles on the way
out, even though it was looking kind of small, and that was a great decision!   At
first look, it seemed fairly small and the boat was just about to pull away when a
little set came through.  Nothing to get excited about but the guys decided that
small, empty Rifles might be more fun than anything else they could find so they
went for a surf.  Good choice!  Sets started coming.  Bigger and bigger and within
minutes it was double overhead!  Some short interval swell just sunk in and caught
everyone by surprise!  Only one lucky boat was in the area just hanging out and they
joined the party.  It was really consistent
and everyone scored!   There would be no rest for our weary arms this day!  It was
another great day, and an unexpected one at that.
