****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and welcome back to your baliwaves.com (since ’99) for today’s 1 click run down on surfing and weather conditions from here on the friendly little holiday island of Bali.
Today’s photo gallery (37 images strong) is courtesy of our good friends from Hendra Surf Photography down at Uluwatu. So next time your down that way make sure you say hello and check out your photos.
Breaking News Up-date; In yesterdays report I mentioned news I received on a shark attack up at Balian beach last Sunday. After making a few enquiries this morning I finally got confirmation that it did infact happen. This very popular surfing destination is located right in front of a large river mouth with the water color constantly a chocolate brown color. It is the first instance of a shark attack that I’ve heard of here in Bali over the entire time that I’ve lived here. I also don’t think it’s going to stop surfers from surfing at Balian.
Ok this mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing a severe drop in wave size between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. As quick as this last swell appeared it just as quickly finished. All that’s left out there today is a weak looking 1-1ft+ with the odd bigger freak set hitting Middle Reef. But I think you could have still found a few fun sized waves at locations like Canggu (on the morning tide) and down along the Kuta to Legian beach breaks. And of course Uluwatu for the surfers staying down on the bukit.
Surf report from Balian this morning courtesy of “Ayu’s Warung and Homestay” locatedĀ over looking the surf and still the best place to hang out if your up that way was saying wave height was down in the waist to waist high range on the A frame left and right, with no surfers in the water.
Surfing conditions have been clean and tidy with the wind coming out of the E – SE between 5 – 10knot.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 0.7mtr Low @ 11.30 and then will be running back up for a 1.9mtr High around the 6.00PM mark.
Weather wise we started the day off with rain through the early hours of the morning, finally letting up around 8.30AM. Since then the sky has cleared up for another hot and humid afternoon here on the holiday island.
Swell predictions for the next 7 days is saying that today wave height is rapidly fading out (true) and then sometime late tomorrow afternoon we should see a new swell starting to show. But just another short lived pulse with the best size and power predicted to happen on Thursday. Then after that we’ll have to settle for smaller left overs in the waist to head high range over the rest of the coming week.
