Kuta Reef to Uluwatu, 29th May 2011

29th May 2011
****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hi folks and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (’99) for our Sunday Session on surfing and weather conditions from here on none other than the friendliest little holiday island of them all, Bali.

Once again this morning’s 6.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was only showing wave height to be breaking in the waist to shoulder high range between Kuta Reef and Airport left. At the time surfing conditions were clean and glassy with no detectable wind.

We got off to a lazy start waiting for surfing conditions to be as good as possible, waiting for the wind to turn to the magical “off-shore” position out of the SE and turn those glassy waves into hollow cylinders. As it say’s in today’s photo gallery we were back down at Bali’s Premier surfing location of Uluwatu. By the time we turned up at 9.30AM there would have already been close to 50 surfers spread from Temple’s right down to the bottom of the Racetrack.

Wave height was still pulsing through in the shoulder to well over head range, there may have even been one or two that made the double head high class. Plenty of nice rides going down on Temple’s and the Main Peak through the morning. By midday the waves were starting to get a little bigger and we even saw a couple of barrels on the Racetrack. But by this time there would have been over 100 surfers from Temple’s to the Track.

Tidal info for today had a 2.1mtr High @ 8.00AM and then running out for a 0.6mtr Low around the 2.00PM mark.

Weather wise it’s been pretty much just another hot and sunny day here in Bali. There was a few drops of rain just before sun up, then rapidly clearing away. Temperature wise outside right now at 3.30PM we have 30 degree’s Celsius and the wind coming out of the SE @ 20kms.

Today’s G-Land Surf Report thanks to the crew at the G-Land Surf Camp was calling wave height to be hitting Kong’s in the solid 4ft range with the occassional bigger set. Similar size waves on Money Tree’s with 5 surfers in the water @ 7.30AM East Java.
