****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hey hello to all you surfers tuning into the original Bali surf report, baliwaves.com (’99). For our “1 click” run down on today’s surfing and weather conditions from here on the only place to head for, if your looking for a sun and fun filled surfing holiday, Bali.
Ok so this mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was looking like wave height had backed off a touch from Sunday, @ 6.30AM there were waist to head high waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. With the tide pretty well dead smack on the bottom of the Low Middle Reef was looking the best of the big 3 with shoulder to head high waves. Surfing conditions on the Outers was clean but with the off-shore SE Tradewind already cranked up to 15-17knot.
I couldn’t get my gear together quick enough and in the car heading south to Uluwatu with the prospect of the early morning Racetrack session. Alas, I only made it down there in time to catch the last half hour or so of perfect light and low enough tide for the Track. Not too mention the “you should have been here an hour ago” cracks. It was also nice to catch up with my good mate Devis Ratif who also happens to be part of the Quiksilver Indonesia surf Team. No matter where Devis surfs at he will always put on a solid high performance of “power surfing”. No chop hop stuff just big turns and lots of spray.
Uluwatu was like a big kids fun park today, from the early morning session on the Racetrack to the Main Peak & Temple sections as the tide started to fill in. Crowd wise it was low in normal comparison with around 60 surfers spread over 600yrds of the Uluwatu surfing arena.
Weather wise today it started off looking a little stormy and moody. Strong off-sfore wind coming out of the SE, gusting into the 15-18knot range. But by 10.30AM the clouds cleared away leaving just blue sky and sunshine. Currently @ 3.30PM the outside temperature is sitting on 28.5 degree’s Celsius.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1AU$=Rp9,100 — give or take 50 Rupiah.
And at this stage our next big swell is still on track for 4.1mtr waves predicted for Saturday the 23rd of July.
