****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hello surfers and welcome back to the baliwaves (’99) for that little taste of Bali when your not here on island. Not too mention the latest news on surfing and weather conditions, and of course the photos. Pretty soon there’s going to be a lot more here for ya’s, so stay tuned to the best in Bali surf reports too find out more ?
Ok so today started off pretty well back to normal with this mornings 6.50AM surf recon on the Outer Reefs of Tuban. I was thinking / hoping that we might have been seeing a miniscule increase in wave height. But pretty hard to tell with only waist to waist high action between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions at the time were clean and glassy with just the slightest trace of off shore on it.
But seeing as though it was my good friends and multiple repeat guests last day with us, we thought the best chance to find a decent wave would be down on the Southern end of the island at Uluwatu. We turned up around 8.45AM to find wave height breaking on the Main Peak and Temple sections in the waist to head high class. Maybe the odd slightly bigger one coming through on Temple’s.
By this time the Trade Wind was gusting out of the ESE @ 6-9knot so surfing conditions were as clean as can be. As the tide started to get to the bottom end of the Low there was a couple of sneaky set waves peel off down the Racetrack. The guy in the opening sequence got them all, he just sat there by himself and waited. It was good to see a little bit of old school style riding and old single fin, in ambidexterity positions.
Crowd wise there was no shortage of surfers. As you’d expect being in the middle of our “peak season” for both in surfing and domestic tourism, with school holidays thrown in on top. Around 68 plus / minus surfers in the water today spread between the Temple and the Racetrack.
The Low tide was pretty low and the high tide I didn’t see. A few drops of rain fell down on the bukit, but mainly just another top day to be here in Bali.
Before I sign out, and after just coming off 13 straight 12hr days of chasing waves all over the island. Not too mention not too much happening surf wise (and it is Sunday tomorrow) I think I’m just gunna go fishing with my local mates. A very special Thank You to my guests who fly back out this afternoon, “Selamat Jalan” all the way, to the VP of Vans and son.

Hey there, im coming over to bali on the 15th of july, this friday and am coming with 3 other mates. Im gonna be the only one surfing out of us, and have been surfing in bali before only in the wet season at sanur and serangan. I was just wondering if there was any chance of negotiating on one of the packages, as im quiet comfortable riding around on a scooter looking for surf, but also wouldn’t mind getting picked up for a couple of days and being taken to spots i have never been to before. I was thinking a long the lines of a package where it is only 2-3 days of being picked up to go surfing, maybe 1 day on the boat. Please let me if there is any chance of negotiating something.
Cheers Ant
