****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Welcome back to the baliwaves (’99) for the start of another surfing week and the latest on surfing and weather conditions from here on the happiest of all the holiday island destination of Bali.
This mornings 6.15AM surf recon on the Outer Reefs was still only showing wave height to be trickling through wave height in the 1-2ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The Tradewind had been howling all night and still producing clean off shore wind in the 10-14knot range. No surfers in the water at the time but I’m sure it wouldn’t have been too much longer before some one would have ventured out to Middle Reef for a paddle.
With the Low tide scheduled in at 0.7mtr for 9.30AM we decided we’d take a chance and head back down to the southern end of the island. But this time to the mechanical location of Bingin. Any guide book will tell you that Bingin is pretty much just a take off, pull in, and flick out type of wave. A short and sweet little tube ride just about every time. We arrived around 7.00AM to find wave height just a touch too small at 1-2ft+ but we were counting on a little boost in wave height when the tide starts to run back in. Only 8 surfers in the water at first and then only 5 on the bottom of the Low, and peaking at 19 when the tide was well and truely running back up. Wave height did pick up a touch with the set waves now a constant 2-3ft with the occasional bigger freak set.
The bottom end of Impossible’s also had a few slightly bigger set waves on it but still breaking a bit too quick for the half a dozen or so surfers riding it. At one stage I counted 45 surfers out at Dreamland with wave height in the 2-4ft range.
Today’s High tide was a 1.6mtr High @ 3.00PM.
Weather wise we’ve had just nothing but blue sky and sunshine here on Bali. Temperature wise another day in the low 30’s on the Celsius scale with a humidity level of 69%. Wind direction is coming out of the SE @ 15-18knot.
Today’s G-Land Surf Report thanks to the people over at the G-Land Surf Camp was calling wave height to be hitting Kongs and Money Tree’s in the head to almost double over head class. Clean surfing conditions with the off shore wind just starting to kick in. No surfers in the water at the time of this report (7.46AM East Java). Don’t forget to drop us a line if any of you would like a solid discount off your next trip into the G-Land Surf Camp.
