13th – 14th March 2012
****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
G’day everyone and welcome back to your baliwaves (since ’99) for the very latest news on our current surfing and weather conditions right here on the best value for tropical surfing holiday your ever going to experience, Bali.
Well yesterday was a lot like today surf and weather wise except maybe wave size was a little smaller and the wind a little stronger out of the WSW. This mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs had wave height showing in the 2-3ft range but unlike predicted on the net (WNW @ 20knot) it was more WSW @ 10knot. Not looking much fun out there being so far off shore and way more exposed to the on shore wind.
But anyway Ketut volunteered to take a run up to Canggu to see if there was any surfers in the water. Apparently there were, Ketut reported that the river mouth section had around 20 surfers on it while the sand bar had 2 riders. As it shows in the photos the further away from the sand the messier conditions were.
The weather has been shiet the last few days, warm, humid, overcast scattered heavy rain and on shore wind here along Bali’s premier surfing coast. Over all the years I’ve lived here, (before the internet was even born) I’ve always personally considered the month of March by far the worst of the year.
Anyway we’ll get back out there and give it another shot again tomorrow. In the mean time make sure you check out the video clip we have loaded this week, courtesy of the ISC tour. Their video guru is going to keep them coming for us so we’ll be changing them constantly. Our friends from the (real) Kandui Resort have also re opened for 2012 and they’ll be keeping us all posted with photos and surf reports from their little peice of the Mentawai Islands. Their first for 2012 is on the baliwaves right now.
Ok then Tidal Info for today had a 0.5mtr Low @ 7.30AM and then running back in for a 2.4mtr High around the 2.00PM mark.
Weather wise Currently right now at 5.30PM it’s still a humid old 30 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction is now coming out of the West at 6knot. Sunrise was @ 6.23Am and will set @ 6.33PM. There’s also a nasty looking T.C. building up some momentum down off North Western Australia so we might get some more wind spinning off it’s tail, hopefully not.
