****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hi folks and thanks for calling by the baliwaves (since ’99) for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions, plus the usual stack of photos. All from right here on your favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well yesterday was going real well, I mean I had all my morning targets achieved, right through to eating my lunch in front of the TV. It wasn’t long after this that one of the boys from down at the beach here in Tuban came around to see me. With tears in his eye’s he told me that my best friend Gede “Ondel” Miasa had passed away in his sleep. I’m sure plenty of you would have came across Ondel if you’ve ever hang out with me or just frequented the beach here in Tuban. Especially if you would have been out for some Balinese sport fishing as Ondel was the “gun” fisho around these parts. And for those who would have been surfing out at Kuta Reef through the 90’s and early 2000’s you would have seen him sitting tightly in the barrel, he was the king of Kuta Reef in those days. Happy trails my old mate, we’ll always be thinking of you.
Ketut went down to Uluwatu this morning and here’s a collection of photos that he shot between 9.30AM and 11.30AM. Surfing conditions according to Ketut were clean as a whistle with the wind blowing straight off shore out of the ESE. Around 30 surfers spread through out the line up with more turning each hour.
Hardly anything happening on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban with only knee to waist high plus waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. I did hear from a friend and property holder (Balian) that there were also some very nice waves breaking up the coast at Balian. Head to almost double head high set waves peeling off left and right.
Ok that’s about all I got in me today my friends, but hang around as Ketut will be heading out again tomorrow and covering for me with the camera gear.
Here’s some weird news, right this very moment there would be lucky to be a hand full surfers in the entire National Park of G-Land. Yes that’s right a meager hand full of surfers in the whole darn area. So if you want to have a once in a life time chance of an empty line up make sure you call into the G-Land Surf Camp and get over there pronto. Contact us now if you want a helping hand organizing everything to get you there.
For any of you that just want nothing more than a hassle free, get up and go surf perfect waves every morning (pending Huey), see and do what the hotel / resort sect don’t. Well we have some new surfing / accommodation packages that will have you at the right location at the right time everyday. All deals include your own photographer at no extra cost.
