15th – 16th May 2012
****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Welcome back crew and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves (since 1999) to get the latest on surfing and weather conditions plus plus, from here on the first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
We covered quite a few miles yesterday the 15th. Kicking off with a 6.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. To find wave height showing more promise, ranging in the shoulder to head high area. We also new that there would be a new swell filling in so we set off towards Keramas. But we decided against surfing the waist to head high waves on offer. And just a reminder to anyone wanting to surf Keramas between now and the 18th of May that the J.S.A. are holding their surf trials over there to select a team to compete against the ISC in the up coming Garuda Cup anual surfing contest.
Ok so we then stopped off up on the hill over looking Balangan. Wave height was a pretty solid 4-4ft+ by this time but the tide still a touch too low. By this time the wind was also blowing clean off-shore out of the ESE. Then we settled on Uluwtu, and as it shows in the first part of today’s solid photo gallery. Uluwatu was solid, in the double to tripple head high plus sector, with a few surfers out there taking complete advantage of it. As usual, at one stage there would have been around 30 surfers in the water. Then after one massive batch of bombastic outside sets there was only a handfull left. The Bombie section even had some long walled green monsters peeling all the way through to the Peak.
This morning we settled for some waves close to home out the front on the Outer Reefs. wave height had settled down and straightened out. Now showing in the head to double head high class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with the wind coming lightly out of the NW. It wasn’t until 10.30AM that the SE off shore Tradewind kicked in. There would have only been something like 25 surfers in the water, dropping down to 10 as the tide started slipping out.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 1.9mtr High @ 6.30AM and then running out to a 0.9mtr Low around 1.00PM.
Weather wise it was a bit of a cloudy start this morning but there has been lots of blue sky since. Currently right now @ 3.45PM the outside temperature is sitting on 27 degree’s Celsius, Humidity on 74%. Wind direction is coming out of the East @ 12-14knot.
This mornings Lakey Peak surf report from the island of Sumbawa was calling wave height to be hitting the Peak in the head to well over head range. Surfing conditions were being called perfect.
Ok then that’s me for now, but I think I’ve also loaded up another gallery in the our Readers Report page entitled Forgotten session @ Serangan.
