BALI
24th July 2013
Hello everyone and welcome back to your baliwaves (since 1999) for today’s run down on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
This morning the SE off shore Trade wind was up early and already cranking up the tempo at sun rise. And with wave height on the Outer Reefs of Tuban still only producing 1-2 footers on our early surf recon our crew had no real alternative other that to head south down to Bali’s premier surfing location and wave magnet, Uluwatu. Arriving just after 7.30AM to find wave height in the 2-3ft range with some fun sized waves breaking on Temple’s and the Main Peak. There was only 20 or so other surfers on location which was surprising as there wasn’t too many waves happening anywhere else at the time.
We also checked Balangan on the way down to Uluwatu but only to find a foot wave peeling down the point with 4 surfers in the water. As the high tide filled in at Uluwatu towards late morning the waves did get a little slow and fat. But every now and again there was a pulse of slightly bigger waves and the maybe of our new swell starting to show.
Our late afternoon check on the Outer Reefs was showing a little better size between Kuta Reef and Airport Left with wave height now coming through in the 2-3ft range. So hopefully by tomorrow morning we’ll see some beter waves happening here on the island of the God’s.
Our G-Land surf report came through at 7.30AM and was also calling in small waves in the wait to head high region on Kongs and slightly smaller waves hitting the Ledge. Only 2 surfers in the water at the time with clean off shore wind.
So if anyone is interested in going over to the legendary left hand wave, G-LAND of East Java contact me and baliwaves.com will hook ya’s up with a solid 10% discount.
Weather wise it was another mixed bag with cloud cover and a few drops of rain through the early AM and then clearing away for a mainly hot and sunny afternoon.

Hey and don’t forget the RipCurl Padang Padang Cup (main event) is still on when it’s on with still plenty of waiting period time left on the clock. So hopefully we’ll get the swell and the contest will run. We’ll keep you in the loop with any news of the event.
NB: Petrol price has finally been increased here in Indonesia with a 40% hike so you can expect prices right across the board to follow suit. Being a small island everything we need comes here by truck. I would expect our beloved Bintang beer to be the first to be jacked.
