BALI
26th July 2014
Hi everyone and welcome to the weekend here on your baliwaves (delivering a little bit of Bali to you since 1999) for the latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on every sane surfers first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Saturday morning started off with a 6.30AM surf check on the Outer reefs of Tuban. But there was only 1-1ft+ high waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left with a clean off shore wind. So we had no choice other than to load up the car and head South down to Bali’s premier surfing locations, Uluwatu. Uluwatu also has to have one of if not the cleanest beach in *Bali.
We arrived as the tide was still running in to find wave height also pretty small at waist to head high (8.30AM) on the Main Peak and hardly breaking up on the Temple section. But as the tide passed through the high and started to run out the sets started to grow into the head to almost double over head class on the Peak. Crowd wise it was pretty good with something like 50 surfers spread from Temple’s through to the top of the Track.
We hung out until 2.30PM and by this time the tide was well and truely running out hard for a New Moon 0.3mtr Low scheduled for 4.00PM. The Racetrack was also starting to look good with some speedy tube rides already starting to go down.
Unfortunately down at Uluwatu yesterday there was a bit of an environmental disaster. As we were walking down the steps past one of the newer venue’s there was a strong smell of sh$t and plenty of sewage all over the steps and running all the way down to the water. I’d have to say there would have been 1000’s of liters of pretty well raw sewage making it’s way down to the ocean while we were on the scene before they called in a tanker to pump it into. I’m sure it was due to some kinda equipment malfunction and not on purpose, but man did it stink.
Weather wise yesterday it was more like the Bali weather we are all used to, hot and sunny.
This morning the 27th and our morning surf check on the Outers was showing an improvement in wave height with 2-4 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left & Right. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with the wind light out of the NNE.
Weather wise out there this morning we have a mainly over cast sky and I’m sure it’s raining somewhere here on the island. Currently at 8.00AM the temperature is on 26 degree’s Celsius, Humidity at 77% and hardly a breath of wind.
