BALI
17th – 18th April 2015
Hello surfers and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (Bali’s original surf report website since back in 1999) for our latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the happy little holiday island that has something for everyone, Bali.
Yesterday the 17th and we were surfing here on Bali’s West Coast and the always popular location of Canggu. We tuned up around 6.45AM to find wave height in the 2-4ft range on all 3 of the main sections with a clean off shore wind on it. We were hoping to find it not too crowded but I think that’s a big ask these days. But anyway the waves were coming through consistently and we all had some good waves. It was good to catch up with my old friend Ketut Menda who was still ripping it up as always (opening photos).
I was also down on the beach checking out the Outer Reefs late yesterday afternoon and there were some solid double head high waves cranking through on Middle Reef.
Today the 18th and my 6.40AM surf check on the Outers was showing wave height in the 2-3ft+ range between Kuta reef and Airport Left. Kuta Reef was peeling off some long and perfect chest to slightly over head high set waves and I was almost tempted to get out there. But my crew wanted to head down to Balangan so that’s where we ended up.
By the time we got down to Balangan the tide was a bit to fat and the wind was a little bit crooked and semi cross shore. Crowd wise there were only 8 other surfers in the line up and some solid 3-4ft+ set waves. As the tide started to run back out around midday Balangan was starting to line up nicely, the wind by that time was also light making surfing conditions glassy
Weather wise we had some light rain to start off the morning with the sky remaining overcast through till 11.00AM. Right now at 4.00PM the temperature is sitting on 29 degree;s Celsius, Humidity level is on 73%. Wind direction is now coming out of the WSW at 5-9knot.

Our new design baliwaves is so close to us being able to switch over and it looks like this weekend it will be happening. So there could be a couple of hours down time at some stage, it’ll be worth it though.

I saw in the news the government plans to nationalise land using a local nominee?
