BALI / INDONESIA
23rd – 24th May 2016
Hello surfers and welcome back to your baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
This new photo gallery was shot over on the East coast on Monday and there were some nice waves coming through in the 3-4ft+ range. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy for our morning session and only around 10 surfers in the water.
Ok so yesterday mornings 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height in the solid 4-6ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. At the time the tide was still running in for a solid high tide with wind still not dedicated to SE and a little funky. There were bus loads of surfers heading for Kuta Reef, no surfers braving Middle Reef. There wasn’t much happening down on Airport Reef, maybe a little bit to big for the Japanese crew.
So we thought we’d take a run down to the southern end of the island and check out the action at Uluwatu. Driving past Padang Padang and Impossibles it must have been a lull between set waves as there was only 2-3ft waves running down Impossibles with plenty of learners on the top end. But it was a different story down at Ulu. Wave height at Uluwatu was pushing the 5-8ft class while we were on the scene with the wind still a bit funky as the Tradey hadn’t kicked in (9.30AM). The most surfprising thing was that there was only 1 surfer in the water and another 1 just paddling out. Even though the waves were not that great it’s been so long since I haven’t seen Uluwatu with no surfers in the water.
I had my 1000mm lens on location but there were no surfers in the water to shoot, so just a few phone camera images at the back end of this photo gallery.
Weather wise it was another hot and sunny one here in Bali, what else would you expect in the tropics.
Today the 25th and our morning surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height to have dropped down into the 3-4ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left / Right. Surfing conditions at the time were clean and glassy with a light NE wind.
Outside right now at 10.30AM the temperature is already a warm 31 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 80%. Wind direction is now Easterly at 4-7knot.
Ok friends stay tuned for more up dates and info through out the afternoon as we will probably do a late afternoon shoot somewhere on the bottom end of the tide.
