BALI / INDONESIA
26th – 27th September 2017
Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the happy little tropical holiday island of Bali.
Mt Agung up date, still no eruption or smoke billowing out of Bali’s biggest volcano. Just a thought for anyone worried about coming to Bali and having their flights cancelled in case the Mt does erupt. The best chance is to not fly with Jetstar or Virgin airlines (from Australia) for starters if possible, try Garuda or Air Asia. You could also fly into Lombok and grab a ferry across to Bali, or even fly into Jakarta and catch a domestic flight to Bali (as long as the airport stays open and it should). Anyway fingers crossed Mt Agung goes back to sleep.
On the surf scene yesterday we were down on the Southern end of the island at Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. As it shows in this smoking hot photo gallery wave height was mainly in the 3-5ft class with a few bigger 6ft sets. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with a clean ESE wind through till around midday when it swung a little more to the SE – SSE. Crowd wise I did a head count totaling 48 surfers from the Main Peak to the top of the Racetrack section, around 250mtrs.
Weather wise it was a mainly hot and sunny day here on the holiday island.
Today the 27th and our surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height to have backed off a touch. 2-4 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left with a fresh off shore SE wind on it at 8.00AM. Middle Reef was looking the best on the lower end of the tide.
Weather wise outside right now at 12.40PM the temperature is on 29 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 80%. Wind direction is coming out of the SE at 15-20knot.
As per usual Bali continues to pump out perfect waves everyday, no reports in from other area’s tells me they are getting skunked, can’t go wrong with a Bali surfing holiday. And impossible to beat Bali’s east / west coast options and consistency right.
Our friend Mr Bill Boyum has also sent us an extract from his new book Journals fron the Edge (Chapter 10) and I have loaded it up down in our news and stories section. So do yourself a favor and have a read how things were here on Bali.
While your here make sure you check out all our sponsors / advertisers and help us by supporting them as well, thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves
