CORONA BALI PROTECTED, Keramas / Bali
Quarter Finals
2nd June 2018
Hello surfers and we couldn’t go past heading over to Keramas beach yesterday and check out the quarter finals of the CBP / WSL pro event. We arrived just as the one of the ladies heats had ended so we didn’t get to shoot anything from their quarters. But we were right on time for the first QF of the mens that had the young Calio ripper G. Colapinto surfing against M. Bourez. Bourez made some nice tube rides and managed to stay in front for most of the heat and eventually take the win.
Quarterfinal No.2 had Aussie favorite M. Wright go at it with W. Cardosa and for most of the head Mikey was in trouble, but only a couple minutes left Cardosa caught one to the beach and didn’t paddle back out. With fate sending through a heat winning wave for Mikey right on the bell.
No.3 had tour veteran J. Smith surfing against F. Toledo abd Smith opened strong with a nice deep barrel and stayed glued to his board while Toledo was getting super deep on a couple but didn’t make it out. Smith took his time and used the priority to pick off a couple of bigger set waves and pull off some big carving turns and hit the beach victorious at the end of the heat.
Qf No.4 had I.Ferreira and J. Flores going at it with Italo catching anything that came near him and racking up a lot of scores while Jeremy sat patiently out the back waiting for something special. Both surfers were pusing it to the limits with some incredible if not impossible manuvers, coming un stuck and sometimes sticking them. But at the end of the head the judges had Italo Ferreira with the highest score.
The remaining semi finals and final should be running today the 3rd of June and fingers crossed we might even see a little pulse in wave height make for some great waves for the shoot out.
We shot over 1000 photos through these 4 heats and really could have posted each and every on of them, the surfing was that good. But in reality we would be editing through till tomorrow to make that happen. I could have also typed up an essay on each heat but I gotta get organised for today, kinda like catch 22. But we hope you like our photos and brief summary and thanks to Corona and the WSL for having baliwaves at this event
We’ll keep you up dated through out the day so stay tuned right here to the original Bali surf report website ok.
