Today’s Round 4 man-on-man action on Day 4 of the Best West Java Surfing Competition presented by Quiksilver was suspended at the conclusion of Heat 4 due to the strong onshore winds that arrived quickly at the mid point of the 30 minute heat. The competitors were told to come back to the beach at 4 pm in hopes that the winds would subside and the competition could resume, but continued strong winds left Contest Director Quiksilver’s Simon MacGregor no choice but to cancel the contest for the day.

In the thrilling 30 minute final of the inaugural Longboard Division at the Best West Java Surfing Competition presented by Quiksilver today at Cimaja Point, Mencos “Baby Funk” from Batu Keras styled his way to victory with a combination of Hang 10’s, Hang 5’s, Cheater 5’s, and other classic maneuvers. Fellow Batu Keras longboard pro Husni surfed brilliantly but came up short to settle for second place, the Philippines Luke Landrigan took third place, and Coca-Cola ISC CEO Tipi Jabrik put in a worthy effort for a fourth place finish.

Solid 3-5 foot glassy waves greeted the Round 2 Open Division contestants arriving at Cimaja Point this morning on Day Two of the Best West Java Surfing Competition presented by Quiksilver. The cobblestone point of Cimaja was on show, providing the perfect forum for high performance surfing by Asia’s best surfing professionals vying for the prestige, prize money and points on offer in this dual sanctioned Coca-Cola Indonesian Championship and Asian Surfing Championship tour event.
Roxy Champion Crowned at Action-Packed First Day of Best West Java Surf Competition Presented by Quiksilver

To end the action-packed first day of the Best West Java Surfing Competition presented by Quiksilver yesterday, Iis from Pangandaran West Java narrowly defeated 2010 Coca-Cola ISC Women’ Champion Yasnyiar “Bonne” Gea to claim the title of Roxy Champion, while Diah Rayahu from Bali took third place over Febrie Rohaye of Padang-Sumatra who was the fourth finalist. Although Royahe finished in fourth place, she still nabbed the Power Balance “Power Move” prize of Rp 1 million.
