Bali Surf Report – October 16 2008

****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** And a very good day to all you surfers from all around the World tuning into the baliwaves for the daily run down on surf and weather conditions here on the happy little holiday island of Bali.

This morning my first surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing a nice little boost in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. And as ya’s can see in these current photos I’ve loaded up Kuta Reef was the place to be with 2-4 footers bending along the reef.

Surfing conditions were absolutely perfect with the wind coming outta the ESE @ 4-8knot blowing straight off-shore between Kuta and Uluwatu.

Tide wise the first was a 2.1mtr High around 11.30AM and then we’ll have a 0.3mtr Low just after 5.00PM.

Yes sir Kuta Reef was cranking through some perfect little waves in the chest to head high plus class and peeling off for a good 80yrds. But as ya can imagine there was no shortage of surfers in the line up and when I first arrived there woulda been close to 50. But within the hour the numbers dropped back to around 30. The local surfers, Ratu, Yukie, along with the local Tuban crew and not too mention Team Diverse’s newest member Sima were all on fire.

Middle Reef was also producing the good with wave height in the 3-5ft range, Middle’s will be the spot through the afternoon run out tide.

Airport Left had chest to head high plus waves breaking.

Down on the Bukit you would be able to take your pick of locations, anywhere from Balangan to Uluwatu would be providing the goods.

Weather wise today it’s just as perfect as the waves are. Blue sky and sunshine with the midday temperature reaching 33 degree’s Celsius.

Datah Primary School Project ; Well today I finally made time… to take a run up to the Datah Primary School with intentions of handing over the funds to complete the “paving objective”. Well yesterday I started to withdraw the funds from my local bank account via the ATM. This morning after trying to complete the withdrawal I found that every “BCA” bank ATM was dry of cash or turned off, re – economy crisis. But what funds I had already withdrawn I handed over to the school head master with a promise to return with the balance within the week. Anyway the amount I handed over was still enough to get the paving started. So as soon as the paving job gets underway I’ll post some photos of the progress.

Photo Up-Date ; The good guys at the G-Land Surf Camp have sent us through some new photos from the last swell we had.

Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp6,150 – Rp6,250 depending on location.
