BALI / INDONESIA
4th – 5th March 2016
Hey surfers and a big welcome back to the baliwaves (keeping you amped up for your next tropical surfing holiday here in Bali / Indonesia since back in 1999) for our latest news and you know the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 wave riddled surfing destination of Bali.
Ok just before I get into it with ya’s and bring us all up to date, I’m guessing you’ve already taken a tour through our photo gallery that was shot by Ketut at Canggu beach yesterday the 4th. Well I was pretty shocked by the stupidity of what went down in the surf and on the beach when I was editing the photos. I mean seeing a bearded tourist wanting to beat up a young local Balinese surfer in Bali. That my friend is a death wish as you may know by know.. Right, fair enough this guy got dropped in on, but that is no reason to want to beat up someone. It’s clear as a bell in the two photo’s showing who the aggressor (temporarily) is before other witnessing Indonesians came to help our young Balinese friend. And I do tell you if it wasn’t for our friend Mr Ajik Barrack (Laskar Bali) from Warung Barrack on the beach at Canggu intervening when he did it could have turned very ugly for this tourist trying to beat on a young Balinese.
I don’t want to know what it’s like at your beach or in your country ok. But when you come to surf in Bali you swallow your aggression and laugh if a local drops in on you, have a joke with him or her and you might make a friend and score the next wave. If you want to bring your country’s style of aggro to Bali well your better off going to the Super Bank or better still staying at home in your country. This is Bali and you are a tourist here, be cool stay happy and smile, don’t be a zombie. Especially at Canggu cause there is already enough aggro in the water from non Indonesian tourists.
Ok glad I got that out and now lets get on with what it’s all about right, surfing. On the 3rd we took a run down to Uluwatu to hopefully find some waves. But what we found I wouldn’t bother calling waves, maybe I’ve been surfing perfect waves for too long hey. But what it was was 1-2ft+ with a light on shore wind so I never even bothered opening my camera case, even with the 1000mm lens it would have been too hard to make it look good. But hey there were surfers in the water and I guess they were having fun.
Yesterday the 4th and like I mentioned in my speech on surf rage above, Ketut was on the scene at Canggu and there were some waves in the 2-3ft range with a light on shore wind. Definitely not worth fighting over, heh heh.
Today the 5th and our 7.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height to be in the 1-2ft+ sector with a light and clean off shore wind. There were surfers in the water on all 3 of the main sections this side of the airport runway.
I’ve also got Ketut over on the East Coast with the camera equipment and he has called through calling wave height where he is in the 2-4ft class with a light off / cross shore wind. Surfing conditions are clean and glassy with some nice waves coming through for the 25 surfers in the water at the time of Ketut’s call.
Hang in there and we’ll have some photos from proof later this evening.
Weather wise this morning here in Tuban we started off with a light overcast sky but now at 10.25AM it’s breaking up to reveal another hot and sunny day here on the holiday island. Temperature wise right now we have 33 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 74%. Wind direction is now coming out of the SE- SSE at 3knots and off shore from Kuta to Uluwatu.
Alright I’ve also been told to let you all know that Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp is offering a special 25% discount for any surfers here in Bali who want to get over to G-Land through the month of March. Their camp is open right now as I type and there are surfers in there right now surfing perfect waves in the 2-4ft+ range with clean off shore wind. Also any surfers already here in Bali and want to get away and keep surfing through Nypie Day Joyo’s is offering a flat rate of Rp5,000,000. for their Nypie Day special 7th – 11th March so contact us right now.
That’s right surfers coming up on the 9th of March we have Hari Nypie the day when all of Bali shuts down, airport, traffic, tv, radio EVERYTHING. The day when we all get to take a day off and breathe including the island of Bali. So make sure you are prepared.
Ok that will do me for now I want to go see if there’s a wave or two for me at Middle’s so catch you later here in Bali.

The aggression in the water in the early days from Locals Australians & Brazillians was nothing short of disgraceful But these days its just so cool surfing anywhere in Bali where everyone deals with the crowds and keeps smiling. This guy beating on a local @ the “Gu” got what he deserved and should be a lesson for everyone. Well written and worded by the whoever informed us of this situation. Surf & be happy!
