BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
24th – 26th October 2020
Hello the everone tuning into the baliwaves and firstly thanks for all your support for the baliwaves.com Just for the record baliwaves.com was the first website on line for Indonesia that had anything surfing related. In fact we were the 3rd website on line for all of Indonesia. The first was a Bali forum the second was a fishing website in Jakarta and coming in 3rd was your baliwaves.com These days I think there is something like 700,000,000. websites on line for Bali.
We hope everyone is surviving the best they can, here at ground level in Bali it really is about survival for the average people. For my self it’s all about getting through one day at a time, and some days are definitely better than others. The pandemic is dragging on and the longer it goes the more damage to the average persons mental health is really being stretched. We have made it through 10 months of no Family income only through the kindness and consideration of our friends. A big deep heart felt thanks to everyone who has considered our well being here in Bali.
Well the last couple of days the waves have been pretty small, especially out on the reefs between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Almost flat at times when I have been checking with 1-2ft at best. The wind has also been going through the usual transition swings going out of the dry season and entering into our other season, the wet. Early mornings the wind has been light out of the N-NW before swinging to the West and then ending up right around to the SSE by midday / early afternoon. That’s pretty much A typical for this time of the year and won’t be too much longer before the Easterly influence is gone for yet another year.
Yesterday my friend and I spent the whole day out in the boat (11hrs) through rain and sun, trolling live baits in the hope / chance of hooking up to some big fish. No luck un fortunately and we had to end up frying up our bait fish we had left over for dinner. Fresh Pilchards are not to bad actually when your hungry hehe. We will get back out there again tomorrow and give it another crack, that’s fishing.
This morning wave height is still pretty darn small here in Bali as it shows in today’s photo gallery. Nb we don’t just turn up at a location snap a few photos and then move on. Nope we hang out through that sweet period usually when the waves are usually at the optimum. So this gallery is the result of a 3 hour stint at Canggu. But 3hrs at the Gu is pretty easy to get through as the scenery is always colourful and plenty of friendly local surfers and warung owners that we have got to know over the years.
We arrived at 8.30am this morning to find wave height in the 2-3ft class and clean and glassy surfing conditions on the Sand bar and River mouth. It was a bit too small for the Echo reef to deliver. Crowd wise it wasn’t too bad and a quite a few waves went through un ridden. It was maybe around the 10.30am mark that the wind started to come up out of the South.
Weather wise it’s been another hot day here on the holiday island and right now at 2.30pm it’ mostly sunny with the temp on 30 degree’s Celsius, I’d say we are going to be in for a warm old summer here in Bali. Wind direction is now coming out of the S-SSE at 20km/h.
Tomorrow the forecast is calling for smaller waves than today so if your in Bali looking for a wave you best head to Uluwatu, Nusa Dua or kick back on the beach breaks and take it easy. You know where I’m going to be so keep an eye and ear out for my morning surf, weather and fishing video report around 7.30am on FB and Instagram.
Further out as I’ve been mentioning we should see a nice medium sized swell gracing Bali on the 29th and taking us through till the end of the month.
