BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
9th February 2021
Hi folks and thanks again for dropping ibto the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999. We really are saddened that we can’t keep the on location daily report happening through these extremely hard times here in Bali, but we are doing our best. Sure, there are waves out there just about everyday of the year, somewhere in Bali is always pumping out waves. But the problems are that firstly there is a pandemic happening and Bali has not been exempt from the sickness and deaths that goes with that kind of stuff. Then there’s been really bad weather and when you couple that up with having to buy petrol to find those good waves. Time is one thing we do have, but cash to burn on petrol we don’t I’m sorry. Keeping my family feed and the bills paid have been our No.1 priority, just like most average families here in Bali.
Times are very hard with no income for almost 1 year now.. If you could spare a dollar or two to help us out please hit up our PayPal link or drop us an email, thanks again.
UP-DATE This comment just came through from Daniel in relation to our short feature we did on Balian and Medewi last week. Yeah my mate, Dan Moore, got attacked there in 2017, January. I told him the night before not to surf there, that time of year with murky water, My wife asked me in the morning why i was surfing Kuta Reef by myself rather go to Balian with him…”too fucking sharky!” was my reply. Got home from my surf, my wife told me i had to had to head up to BMIC to offer comfort while he waited for surgery from a shark attack! Severed seven tendons in his hand. He was paddling out to the left with his son and a friend with his wide and daughter watching. Horrific.
I just thought I had better load you up some fresh photos that we shot yesterday the 8th. As you would know from our social media posts we were over on the East Coast at Keramas. With the tide just starting to run out and the wind light out of the South there were some nice waves churning out some deep tubes onto the lava rock ledge. No shortage of red hot surfing, along with the local Keramas surfers there was a couple of crews from Kuta and Legian.
It was bloody hot where we were shooting from but that what it takes to get the best angle, a photographers lot I guess. We hung out until around 11.00am and by then the tide was starting to get a bit too low and the bigger set waves not holding up.
This morning the 9th and I’m sure there was plenty of surfing happening on both sides of the island again this morning. Light West to North West wind early, wave height only down a touch from yesterday. Right now at 1.30pm the wind has dedicated more to the WSW and increased in strength a little more.
Weather wise it’s been a mostly overcast morning here on the South side of Kuta and right now the temperature is a warm 29 degree’s Celsius, The Humidity level feels like it is off the scale but sitting on 80%. The wind is out of the South West at 7-10kmh.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is looking pretty much the same as today. Early morning light NW wind before swinging through the West around to the SW as the day goes on. Expect wave height to have backed off another notch.
Long range surf forecast is is still on track for a small bump on the 12th and then a moderate swell rolling in on the 15th. Wind direction is still looking mostly out of the Western quadrant.
We also have a New Moon rising on the 11th so we will see much bigger tidal ranges over the following few days.
