BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
30th March 2021
Hello everyone and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since 1999) For our latest news and the best views from right here on your favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali. Hey what a ride we have ben on the last year or so over here, going from the point of almost being over crowded to almost a deserted ghost town here in the Tuban / Kuta area. No income coming in over this period for us has been a real humbling experience, not that we had much to splash around at the best of times. But we can’t thank our invaluable friends and supporters that have helped my family keep our heads above the water line. We still have awhile to go yet, so please if you can help keep us afloat a little longer we will be forever in your debt. Click this link for a fee free money transfer link via PayPal
Surfwise here in Bali things have been nothing else but small right across the board. Last Saturday pretty much saw the last of the swell and then Sunday and Monday it was all but flat. Today the 30th and reports in from Uluwatu were that when the tide hit the top of the High tide it wasn’t even breaking on the Main Peak. I think in the last 26 years that I’ve lived here in Bali maybe only two or three times have I ever seen Uluwatu not breaking. I need to go down the beach anhd start getting my old boat ready to put out on it’s mooring where it should be, not beached up on the sand.
Weather wise today the weather has really warmed up here on the holiday island and the last few days the day time peak temps have been in the 31 to 34 degree Celsius range. We have had some over night rain but all clear through the day light hours. The ESE – SE Tradewind has been making an appearance and having a well anticipated warm up the last few days. But it is predicted to revert back lightly to the W – SW towards the end of this week and through next week.
On the Surf Forecast scene not much has changed with the Indian Ocean getting barraged with rotten High pressure systems dominating. For those of us that live in hope of a new swell hitting Bali well fingers crossed we might see a minute bump in the swell size around the 7th of April. It’s been a long time since we had a 2 week flat spell but that’s how it’s looking ATM.
Ok what I have loaded up photo wise today is 80+ photos that I shot with our GoPro 7 while the grommets and I went for an 10.8km ride from Tuban up through Kuta to Legian and then back again. I have posted a map of our route that did include Poppies Lane 1 & 2. Even after living with it here since the start if this Covid-19 pandemic it’s still a shock seeing it like this today. We were riding at a pretty slow pace so the photos don’t lie and testimony to just how quite the streets are here in Bali right now. Some of these photos are hard to recognize without the inclusion of people enjoying their holiday time with smiling Balinese.
Well health wise I’m just about back on track, only having the usual aches and pains that I’ve lived with for years. From January 1st I went down with infected feet and then inner ear infections. Finally cleared those up and out of the blue my back went out. That was almost 3 weeks ago and now it’s just a bit stiff but I will nurse it just a little longer. No need for small violins, I’ve been laughing at my bad run of injuries and I tell ya my pain threshold is right up there at 10 again. I’m looking forward to getting back out in the outrigger and catching some fish in the very near future. And when we do get some swell I have a brand new 6’6″ Native surfboard to wax up. So as we all know, “patience is a virtue”

Wow. Those photos are incredible. I never imagined it was anything like that.
It’s a sad situation but looking at the photo’s, the graffiti paint spray shops must be in full swing. I love bali but hate seeing this and don’t recall it being so bad.
Thanks for the update Slim. Without the photos it is impossible to imagine it. 🙁
