BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
16th June 2021
Hello Bali people and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since 1999, for surfers by surfers) We hope everyone is doing the best they can in order to get this crazy World back on track and life and life’s back to where they were before this pandemic began. I’m sure you all know that Bali’s most well know area’s namely Kuta / Legian are still like ghost towns with most doors closed and way too many for sale / rent signs on display.
Here in Tuban just to the South of Kuta is also barren of tourism and also doing it very tough. Usually all the guest house and Home stay’s are all doing well. But the last year and a half they are all empty, including our place. If any of our friends out there can spare us a dollar it would shore make a big difference for my family. If you can please click this link to get to our PayPal link or contact us directly, Thank You.
Hey back again with some more news on what’s been happening on the surf scene here along Bali’s West Coast. Well not a real lot I guess my friend who works down in one of the cliff side warings at Uluwatu has been sending me through photos of the waves down there most days and just by the look of it and the number of learners in the water it was enough to keep me here putting around in the back yard, cleaning fishing reels and a touch of gardening in my free time.
But today with a predicted bump in wave height Ray and I made our way up to Canggu to see what was going down and who was tearing it up. One thing for sure is that I never counted on grid lock traffic in the main street of the Gu. But by the time we eventually pulled up in the Pererenan car park we were still lucky enough to find the wind blowing fresh off shore out of the NE. We were also stoked to see some solid 4ft (well over head) set waves hitting the Sandbar.
Crowd wise the Sandbar had it’s pre Covid standard crowd of around 20 – 25 surfers and the Right hand River mouth of Pererenan had a solid 30+ surfers all over it. Canggu really does appear to have weathered the tourism shortage through the pandemic. I also through in a few photos I shot out of the car window comparing Canggu traffic to what we have down here in Kuta.
Weather wise today well I do have to admit for the most of it the sky has been mainly overcast. Right now at 4.40pm it’s still overcast with the temperature on 29C,, Humidity is at 83% and the wind is ESE at 31km/h.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.4mtr Low just before 8.00pm tonight.
Tomorrow’s swell forecast is calling for a nice bump in wave height to take us through the next couple of days. Then if everything stays on track we should have another similar sized swell roll in on the back of this one.
On the Bali Corona Virus Scene the number of new infections continue to spike after the recent national holiday period. Travel was supposed to be banned but it was revealed that around 18 million Indonesians went of vacation. Bow we are seeing the result plus we have the new Indian variant mixed in. Hospitals in Java and Sumatra are also starting to reach maximum limits and the President has urged all Covid treatment hospitals to prepare more beds. Not sounding too good for tourism to recommence here in Bali as hoped for next month.
Ok then friends we hope you are safe and sound where ever you might be tuning in from. Life here in Tuban / Kuta is still hard and no change over the last 18 months. So we have decided to try and generate a little income by offering some original baliwaves printed tee shirts smaller size S-L-M the price is 9 dollars AUD and size XL-XXL the price is 12 dollars AUD. Sure you can go stay in a big empty falling apart hotel and be a stranger. Here at our place you are treated like family. You get all the benefits of our un biased knowledge of surf / fishing information. Plus get to eat real Balinese food from one of the best Balinese / Indonesian chefs on the island (my wife) as guests at our table.
