Bali Surf & Weather report
15th October 2021
Hello everyone and thanks for staying in touch with your No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali through us here at baliwaves.com. It’s been a very up and down last 21 months since we haven’t had our regular native English-speaking guests and visitors from Australia / America / NZ and England due to the pandemic. Hopefully that is going to change soon the way the World vaccination programs have been running. We really want to Thank all our friends and supporters for all the help that you have given us to help get us this far, we are almost through this. Please don’t give up on us through this last leg of “containment” So if you could spare a dollar or two (every dollar makes a difference) then hit this link https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
Back to surfing again today folks, yesterday I just really need to show you just how sad things still are here in Bali at the moment. And more than likely will remain for another 4-6 months looking at it through optimistic eyes.
Today the 15th however I decided to take a run down to Uluwatu and check conditions as dry season 2021 rapidly draws to an end. Plus, to give my sliced finger another day to heal before I put in more hours fishing for my family. I took my time to get down the coast this morning arriving at 9.00am. Wave height had bumped up right on predicted schedule with 3-5ft+ waves hitting the main Peak.
Around 35 surfers were in the water, spread from the Racetrack up to the Peak. Wind direction was on shore out of the S-SW while I was on the scene but the waves were still nice and clean. Super clear morning down at Uluwatu and if your imagination and metal GPS was working you could see all the way to G-Land. At the very least East Java was in view.
The tide was running down through the morning heading for a 0.7mtr Low around 12.44pm. Check here for Bali’s accurate tidal information. https://www.tideschart.com/Indonesia/Bali/Kota-Denpasar/Kuta-Beach/
Weather wise it’s been a mostly hot and sunny day here on the holiday island of Bali. Currently at 2.55pm the temp is on 30C, Humidity is at 70%. Wind direction is fresh out of the W-WSW.
Tomorrows surf forecast is calling for wave height to be slowly backing off throughout the day with more mostly Southern quadrant wind.
The next Moon Phase here in Bali for October will be a Full Moon rising on the 20th.
Ok everyone thanks again for all your support, now and always. We are just a humble crew of surfers doing this for surfers who love Bali.
if any of our friends can spare a dollar or two or order an original baliwaves tee shirt (also now in long sleeve) you would not only be helping my family out but also others in the production sequence. https://www.paypal.com/donate?token=yUwuVi9Yy1UUhqL104XC4wavkLkXoKaKPfCqsOCc5zGiRa4pKBrJUrkbVUbuON06ewQUMGOmWewzORVK

I see that 17 entrances are bricked up in Kuta, Is this restricted access general, or can you still get a wave or two?
Geoffrey,
From what a friend said, they’re limiting it to 8,000 people on Kuta beach. I think some 8(?) entrances were said to still be open, where they were doing the vaccine checks with phones via a QR. Friend didn’t say how this applies to surfers, how temp this would really be, what the hell do you do with your phone while you’re in the water, and how badly are the local vendors are getting screwed by this.
Would sure love to hear more information on this! Stay safe all!
I’ll check this out Geoffrey. I actually rode along the road in front of the beach slowly on the 12th and from what I remember all entrances were open. I actually parked my bike up just past “beachwalk Mall” and walked straight onto the beach through an “entrance” no one asked me for anything. and there were sellers looking for customers on the beach at most entrance points that I could see along the way.
I’ll check it out Tom, I didn’t see anything like this happening last week.
Thanks Slim! Relief to hear you didn’t have any issues and the vendors aren’t getting hassled in the meantime.
Hey Tom it might still have some substance though and could explain why our little beach in Tuban is unusually crowded with domestic tourists ?
Jeez it might if 20,000 domestic tourists really are also coming according to the Gov. Saw even the New York Times is reporting Bali as “sort of open,” but government regulations like that are keeping people away. Hopeful this’ll create some pressure to change these regs, open up Kuta beach, and stop hassling locals as apparently Qantas is in talks to start flying Oz-Bali soon too. Have a less stressful day Slim!
Yes Tom I hope so with the tough rules and regs for entry in Bali… Not one hotel booking has yet been made since the 4th of Oct. More trial and error
No kidding Slim! Fingers crossed Aus tourists are back into Kuta by December, if earlier.
