East Coast Surf Report – Wednesday 21st January 2026
The East Coast of Bali delivered solid beach break conditions today with waves sitting around the 2-4ft mark. The sets were punchy and powerful on the sand, offering some decent peaks when the sets lined up, especially with the tide starting to rise through the morning. It was a quick shoot around 8am, but there were enough waves on offer to keep things interesting.
Strong offshore winds were blowing all morning, which helped keep the faces clean but also added a bit of extra texture and push to the waves. Timing was key, with the rising tide improving the shape and making the beach break more forgiving compared to the earlier lower tide. Crowds were moderate, with around 20 surfers spread along the stretch, giving plenty of room to move.
Weather & Tides
Current conditions this afternoon are overcast and humid, sitting around 28 degrees with strong northwesterly winds blowing through. It feels warmer than the actual temperature, and while visibility remains good, there are passing showers and thunderstorms expected into the evening. Winds remain strong and unsettled, which is typical for this time of year on the East Coast.
Tomorrow starts with a low tide early in the morning around 6:32am at approximately 0.2m, which should favour shallow beach breaks and faster conditions early. The tide then fills in steadily through the day, reaching a solid high tide around 12:59pm at roughly 2.2m. This mid day high should offer better shape and a bit more push for the East Coast spots before the tide drops again into the evening, with another low around 6:30pm at approximately 0.7m.
Surf Forecast
Looking ahead, the swell forecast shows the surf remains on the small to mid range over the next few days, generally hovering around the 3 to 4ft mark. There is no major swell event on the horizon, but conditions should stay playful with enough energy for the beach breaks to keep working. Winds remain the biggest factor, with strong offshore and cross offshore winds expected to continue, so timing your sessions around lighter periods and favourable tides will be important. If anything changes, it will be a slow fade rather than a sudden jump in size.
