**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello reef riders, welcome back to another day of baliwaves. Yesterday I got the news from the surfers who went back across to Serangan on surfing conditions over there. Matt and Andy reckoned wave height was in the 2-3ft+ range with the wind blowing cross/off-shore. The boys also said as the tide rolled up the waves became pretty inconsistent and fat. I’ve also gotta mention, while we’re on the subject of Serangan, that it has always had the worst beach access road in Bali. Even though the locals charge every car and motor bike that enters… for road repair. This morning I was doing the surf recon of the Outer Reefs at 6.15am. Wave height has dropped down another notch with only 1-1ft+ of swell breaking in between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Wind direction has also shifted to the WNW and coming in at 9-12knot, still onshore here along the West Coast but good to see a bitta North mixed in it. Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta: — 1US$=Rp9,050 — 1AU$=Rp6,400 — 1NZ$=Rp5,385 — 1UK$=Rp15,865 — The best bet or a wave today would be over at Nusa Dua or up at Keramas a little bit later on this morning when the tide starts it’s run back in. Outside right now at 7.00am the cloud is finally starting to piss off leaving some solid patches of blue sky. The current temperature is around 24C and should easily make the high twenties by midday. To the crew who have never been to Bali and are concerned with all the recent travel warnings, dept: The Indonesian’s have increased security in all areas of western interest, especially here in Bali. Hopefully we’ll see you all here on the surfing holiday island of Bali in 2006.
I have been asked to pass on to the baliwaves.com crew some special prices for anyone who’s been thinking of hitting the Mentawai Islands. The owner of one of the the largest charter operations for the area has some vacancies to fill on quite a few of his boats. He’s going to give another 5% discount to any of you surfers for any bookings for this month, April ’06. Here’s a quick break down of what he’s got for ya’s, and if your interested shoot him an email straight away.

A little while back I mentioned something about baliwaves.com wanting to help out with a charity organisation carring for Balinese Orphans, by finding kind hearted folks to sponsor kids for their basic schooling needs. Well just for now if anyone would like a bit more information please send an email to: [email protected]
Purnie will be able to pass on all the info. I think it costs around AU$70.00 per year to provide a poor little kid with a school uniform, school fee’s and books plus pocket money.
Feel free to send us an email if ya have any questions that might help your next Indo surfing holiday run that bit smoother. Likewise if your looking for a cheap, clean and 100% surfer friendly place to home base at here in Bali.
Best Regards from Your Bali.
