December 11, 2007
Hi folks and seeing as though I was back up at the school last Thursday I had better fill ya’s in on the state of affairs. Unfortunately due to bad traffic and poor roads I was a bit late getting to the school before finishing time, which is 12.00 noon by the way. So I couldn’t actually hand the 100 new English / Indonesian dictionaries over to the kids personally. But what I did was go around and visit one of the teachers Mr Wayan Darsana at his house not far from the school itself.
After leaving the new books with Wayan we then talked about the progress with hooking up the electricity to the school. Wayan assured me that the electricity supply had been approved by the electricity company and that cable and support poles had already been purchased and that work on laying the support poles will be starting this week. And today Tuesday the 11th of December I received a short phone call from Wayan saying that the work had indeed commenced. So I imagine that by my next visit to the school, which will be in January 08 the school will be lit up from the kindness of you guys who have contributed to the school.
Hopefully next visit to the school and I’ll also be taking up enough funds to start repairng the wall and gate that surrounds the school !
Thanks again to all of you that have got behind us and supported this project of helping the kids at Datah Primary School.
Best Regards from Bali
