Kandui Surf Resort, Oct 29th surf report
It wasn’t looking too promising out front this morning. Not much sign of a new
swell and the southeast winds were still blowing. We took off for Hideaways,
knowing conditions would be good and hoping the new swell was getting in there. We didn’t see much when we pulled up, but no one was out and it was clean so we jumped right in. As luck would have it, it didn’t take long before sets were rolling in and we were all catching waves and having a great time. There were some surprising sets coming through and we all got some barrels. The tide started getting low and the sets slowed down. A few other guys got on it as well so we called it a morning and headed back. In the afternoon, the winds went north for a while and we headed for Bankvaults. There was no one out there as well so the boys got out there and surfed until dark. It wasn’t epic, but overhead and fun. We are probably looking at fading surf tomorrow.
Oct 28th surf report
Not looking too spectacular out front this morning. It was fairly small and
southeast winds were blowing, which meant less than good conditions at the spots that would be sucking in the small swell. Most of our guests headed home this morning and the last two guests from the 2008 season, Dan and Alex, were content to hang out and surf 4 Bobs. There is a little bump in the swell forecast for tomorrow so we are going to wake up early tomorrow and see what it has to offer.
Oct 27th surf report
The swell had dropped overnight. Winds were out of the southeast. It was looking
too small to expect anything was really happening at the spots that would be
offshore with those winds. We started to rally a boat a couple of times to give
Nipusi a look, but we knew it would be onshore and maybe some guys on it so we just couldn’t break away from old, reliable 4 Bobs which was still overhead with no one else around. We surfed there and Karambat Left on and off the entire day and had a lot of fun. No one else ever showed up. We are looking at dropping swell tomorrow.
Oct 26th surf report
The swell was definitely looking bigger this morning. We had gotten up early and
were heading out to Rifles at dawn, but as we got out to 4 Bobs we could feel the
southeast winds starting to blow so we made a quick left turn and went straight to
Hideaways. No one was on it and it was overhead and the winds were blowing lightly offshore. Some of the waves were going 3 feet overhead or so and we had a great time until other people in the area figured out that Rifles was not going to happen and ended up at Hideaways also. We had gotten our fill by then and the tide was getting too low anyway, so we headed back. Some of the guys surfed slightly onshore Karambat left and 4 Bobs until the tide came back up in the afternoon. We hit Kandui then. There were a few legitimate sets, but the swell was dying so we went back to Hideaways for the last hour or so of afternoon light. It was super clean and still overhead. We are expecting smaller surf tomorrow.
