****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks, well as I mentioned yesterday my Internet provider has been having problems since last Friday. And as I type this report up I still don’t know wether or not I’m going to have to head off and find an open internet cafe or not. Tomorrow being Hari Raya Nyepi everything is already starting to shut down here in Bali.
But anyway, my 7.00am surf check of the Outer reefs was showing wave height to have dropped right off and now only sjowing in the 1-1ft+ range betwen Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Even though surfing conditions were clean and tidy with the wind blowing lightly out of the NE at the time.
But the boys and I from here at Home Base wanted waves, so there was no alternative for us other than to load up the wagon and head South for Uluwatu. We eventually got there arounf 9.30am to find wave height a fairly consistant 2-3ft with the occassional bigger set wave on the Main Peak. We were also pretty surprised to only find 8 surfers in the water.
By this time the wind had also shifted to the SE and blowing straight off-shore until around 11.00am when it decided to swing further around to the SSE and more cross/on-shore. The number of surfers in the water by this time had also jumped to around 40. There were also a few waves in the head high range peeling off down on the Temple section. Driving home past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there wasn’t hardly a ripple breaking.
Tidal info for today we had a 2.2mtr High @ 10.00am and then we’ll see a 0.5mtr Low around 4.00pm. Today also see’s the New Moon rising.
Weather wise nothing but blue sky and sunshine with a maximum temperature of around 33 degree’s Celsius. Water temp is also warm @ 24 degree’s Celsius.
Ok crew no surf report tomorrow as it’s “that day” here in Bali when no one is allowed out on the streets or beach’s. Just a thought, imagine if every country could shut down for just one day a year. That’d have to have an impact against global warming and natural resource saving, wouldn’t it ? No cars, bikes, airplanes, factories etc etc etc.
See ya’s soon
Slim
