****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
And a very fine Friday afternoon to everyone tuning into the baliwaves.com for the latest news on todays surfing and weather conditions here in the real surfers paradise holiday island of Bali.
Well after being told yesterday “that we should have been here earlier” we headed back over to the East Coast for some more Keramas. It was still dark when we jumped in the rental at 5.30am and with no traffic yet on the road we were on location by 6.00am as the sun was just coming up, or I should say as she was trying to poke her head out from the solid cloud cover.
We did have a little doubt in our thoughts as the wind here in Tuban was already howling out of the West @ 15-18knot. But as we got closer to our destination the wind just dissapeared and left us with a light off-shore breeze.
As ya’s can see in these photos Keramas was the place to be out surfing (low / no light shooting in manual without a tripod). There were already 6 surfers in the water as we got ready and the numbers only increased to around 12 for the next 4-5hrs. As we were leaving at 1.00pm there still would have only been around 18 in the line-up. Another personal best for photos today with somewhere around 37 on our surf report page and another 7 on the bodyboard page. I also managed to shoot a little more digital video to add to yesterdays and as soon as I get some time… you’ll get to check it out. (I’m also in the process of moving house to our new Home Base still here in Tuban)
Weather wise today we didn’t receive any rain but it’s been cloudy and overcast all day. Temperature wise it’s been a humid 28 degree’s Celsius.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1AU$=Rp8,450 — 1US$=Rp9,100 — EU$=Rp13,150 — Give or take a few Ripiah depending on vendor.
Mojo’s Mexican Restaurant; I finally made it up to Mojo’s the other night, taking a couple of our guests with me to sample their fare. And I have to say it’s got to be the best value Mexican Restaurant here in Bali. Check out their banner advertisement on baliwaves.com and if your coming to Bali and like to eat Mexican food you owe it to yourself to try their burrito’s (5 star)
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here at Home Base in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$16.00 (Rp160,000) per night (single) or US$19.00 (Rp190,000) for a couple and US$26.00 (Rp260,000) twin share. Then contact slim.
We are also now sending out brief random surf reports and ravings through Twitter mobile phone service so sign up today !
Our New Photo program that we have been trialing has turned out to be a success and we’ll be keeping it. Our page view statistics show that our sponsors have been averaging pretty close to the same traffic as before, so a big thanks to you guys and girls. Please continue to support the people that support our baliwaves.com
Best Regards from Bali
