BALI / INDONESIA
16th – 17th July 2015
Hello friends of Bali and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop since back in 1999, when we were in fact the first surfing website to be on line for Indonesia) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the place we’d all rather be, Bali.
First of all we’d like to wish all out friends in Indonesia a very special Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri today , Mohon Maaf Lahir dan Bathin.
Ok so we’ve been keeping the photos rolling to you from here in Indonesia and if you have been checking all the posts also from our mates at Joyo’s in G-Land and from down at Bingin courtesy of EGO surf photography. We do hope you have been entertained, not too mention our free to view baliwaves Impossible’s WEB CAM anytime you so desire.
Well today is no different and so here’s another 50+ photos we shot back down at Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu yesterday the 16th. We actually called into Balangan for a quick surf check from the hill above but only to find wave height a very inconsistent 1-2ft+. Surfing conditions were perfect with clean off shore wind but at the time there were already around 30+ surfers in the water and more for sure on the way.
So we democratically voted for Uluwatu and that’s where we spent our day. Arriving to find wave height in the 2-4ft class hitting the Temple and Main Peak sections while the tide was filled in. First up the numbers were not too bad but as the morning drew on it did get a little bit busy and even more so as the tide ran out. By this time the Racetrack was also starting to come to life with 2-3 footers running down the shallow shelf of ancient lava flow.
Weather wise it was just another hot and sunny day here on the holiday island, with strong off shore wind out of the SE.
This morning the 17th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was only showing wave height breaking in the 1-2ft+ region between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. At the time the wind was already getting fresh outta the SE and probably will get a little too strong for the Outer Reefs as the morning gets on.
The next tide today here in Bali will be a 2.4mtr High around 10.30AM so we can expect or not expect too much happening around the top end.
I’d probably be calling the beach breaks from Kuta to Legian a good option for a padlle this morning, or back down to Uluwatu.
Weather wise right now at 7.45AM we have a mainly blue sky with a couple a clouds drifting around. Wind direction is SE at 8 – 10knot+ and gathering momentum.
