BALI / INDONESIA
13th – 14th November 2016
Hello friends and thanks for tuning again to the baliwaves. Hey and how about showing some love and take a look at the flashing banner over to the right of this. We are hoping to raise some so we can get some new camera equipment and helping you save some money at the same time. We’ve been doing our part here at baliwaves since ’99 bringing you a little bit of Bali each day, so show some love if you can.
Well with just around 2 weeks of this 8 week campaign left to run we have managed to scrape up just over AU$700.00 from our target of AU$6,000.00 I’d like to give the 12 – 13 people out of our average 100,000 viewers per month who did show some love a huge thank you.
Ok so after yesterday mornings quick surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height in the 1-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport lefts with clean and glassy conditions. We decided to take a run down to Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. Our first glimpse of the line up at Ulu was showing no surfers in the water with 2-4ft waves, so we were pretty excited. I mean it was Sunday morning and the new Euro sect that dominates the bukit (in numbers only) are renowned for partying and sleeping in. So we were stoked, how ever on closer inspection we soon found out that the new stair case that had been put in was washed out from the torrential rain that had caused a flash flood through the ravine that leads to the “cave”.
The usually dry ravine was flowing like rapids, even though there was still a sketchy track open to make the decent the water was flowing too hard to take it on. We had also coincided with a big high tide so it was like a chocolate washing machine down below. A few surfers did make the trek out and were rewarded with 2-4ft+ waves to themselves but I’m pretty sure the water quality would have been nasty. The other factor was that if we had more rain getting back out of the cave would have been impossible.
So we ended up heading back to Tuban and hit the Outer Reefs where my crew went and surfed shoulder high Kuta Reef by themselves. It is hard to beat the Outer Reefs for variety and close to home.
Weather wise it was a mostly overcast day down on the bukit yesterday.
This morning the 14th and weather wise outside so far at 6.00AM it’s looking pretty good with mostly blue sky out my window. Hardly a breath of wind is happening now all I need to do is go do a surf check. I’d say wave height has backed off a touch overnight but we should see a fresh pulse of swell turning up for tomorrow. So stay tuned to the original and only baliwaves surf report website for more info and up dates through out the day.
Today also has a super Full Moon rising so we are going to be seeing some big tidal differences over the next few days.
The next tide in Bali today will be a 2.3mtr High around 9.30AM
If you are looking for a quiet place to stay near some of Bali’s best waves, with a resident surf guide and yoga instructor at the resort, S Resorts Hidden Valley is a great choice.
