BALI / INDONESIA
17th – 18th August 2017
Hi everyone and thanks for checking in to the baliwaves (keeping you up to date with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest surf report and photyos from here on the only sane choice for your next hard earned tropical surfing holiday, Bali.
Alright so yesterday the 17th, Indonesia’s Indopendance Day went smoothly here in Bali and I have to say there was no shortage of swell or perfect waves all over the island. We hit the East Coast first off to see what was happening at Keramas. As it shows in some of the photo’s it was looking great with 3-5 footers (head to double head high) and only around 18 surfers in the water. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy while we were on the scene at 8.30AM.
My crew wasn’t keen so from there we back tracked back to the South Western end of the island to Balangan where it was still in the solid double to triple head high and breaking pretty far out off the point. There were only maybe 10 surfers in the water at 9.45AM. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy but as we were watching the SE Trade Wind kicked in with a fresh clean off shore wind.
Weather wise as it shows it was mainly cloudy with a few small glimpses of blue sky thrown in.
Today the 18th and with wave height looking to be backing off some yesterday afternoon we took a run up to Canggu to see what was happening. But there was still no shortage of size at the Gu, looking pretty washy and maxing out on the bigger set waves. A lot of water moving around on the Sandbar and River mouth. There was a few riders on the sandbar but no one on the river mouth. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy.
So back to basics today with a surf out on the Outer reefs of Tuban. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was in the 3-5ft class. Kuta Reef and Airports were mostly in the chest to head high plus range with Middle Reef scoring the bigger set waves. KR was super crowded as you get to expect when the swell hits and everyone tends to flock there. Surfing conditions were super clean and tidy with the SE wind blowing straight off shore.
Weather wise today it’s been mostly sunny with some cloudy sections drifting through.

I’d also like to thanks Mul and his team from down at Bingin for sending us through more photos from the ever popular and beautiful Bingin Beach.
Another important issue for the locals here in Bali especially with winter going down in the Southern Hemisphere and the season for super flu in Australia. Please don’t bring flu’s and virus strains with you on holidays. Make sure you get to the Doctor first before getting on the plane and infecting all the passengers and then maybe infecting everyone you come in contact with here in Bali. You wouldn’t go to work with the Flu so don’t bring it to Bali please.
