**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning surfers and thanks for dropping into the original Bali surf and weather website (since ’99) I was too stuffed from motor biking around Bali yesterday to type ya’s up the written report. But anyway, we all know pictures say more than words. Well like I mentioned on the 17th I was out on the road most of the day checking some of the waves that were on offer around Bali. My first surf check was of the Outer Reefs here at home in Tuban. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports had dropped off slightly but was still breaking in the 1-3ft+ range. The first 4 photograpghs on display are of “Green Balls” over on the South Eastern end of Bali. There were 9 surfers in the water and some nice right handers were rolling through while the tide was at the top of the High. Surfing conditions were clean and smooth with wave height pushing 5ft (double head high) on the set waves. While I was in the area, I made my next stop at Uluwatu. Surfing conditions were still pretty clean but the wind was starting to pick up some momentum by this time, coming outta the S-SSE @ 4-7knot. There were waves breaking on all 3 main surfing sections from, Temple’s, Main Peak and the famous Racetrack end section in the 2-4ft class. I counted a total of 20 surfers in the water, spread over a good 700yrds, and that was around 11.30am. So don’t go believing any one that reckons Uluwatu is too crowded… I don’t think Uluwatu has seen a decent crowd since dry season No. 2002. Anyway that was how it went down yesty, today the 19th and yes sir I was down doing my thing checking surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs @ 6.30am. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports has backed off a touch more this morning. Kuta Reef was breaking perfectly @ 1 foot and likewise across at Airports. Middle Reef on the other hand had a few head high set waves peeling off. There were no surfers in the water at that time, but there would be by now. Clean off-shore wind along the SW coast (from Legian to Uluwatu) coming outta the ESE @ 2-5knot. The next tide will be a 1.8mtr High happening @ 9.00am and then running down to a 0.6mtr Low around 3.00pm this arvo. We’ve got the New Moon happening tomorrow the 20th so we’re gunna start to see some bigger diferences between the tide range over the next few days. Ok what have we got around Bali this sunny Sunday. We got small fun sized waves ranging from 1-3ft+ and clean off-shore wind. I’d imagine Uluwatu would be the best on offer this morning. I hope things are looking just as good at your local this morning, well if not, ya know where to come then don’t ya ! Remember anytime’s a good time to start organising your friends for your next indonesian surfing adventure !
