**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** G’day folks and thanks for hanging around long enough for me to make it back home from Uluwatu. To start the day off I went down for my daily surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban @ 6.30am. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports had improved overnight, nothing huge mind ya, but there were some ok looking little chest to head high sets rolling through on Middle Reef. The tide was already Low enough to expose some of the reef and still dropping at the time. Wind direction was coming outta the West @ 1-3knot and surfing conditions were still clean and glassy. With that knowledge I made tracks down to Uluwatu in the hope of catching some low tide Racetrack action, arriving on the scene by 7.45am (by motorbike…). I was hoping for some bigger sized waves hitting Ulu but was kinda surprised to see wave height still only in the 2-3ft+ range. Never the less as ya’s can see in the “frame grabs” there were a few hollow little ones bending along the reef. At first there were only around 6-8 surfers in the water but as the tide started to run back in the crowd picked up to a massive number of 20 surfers. So don’t let anyone tell ya Uluwatu is too crowded to surf, they haven’t got a clue ! Uluwatu by the way has some of the friendliest local surfers your gunna find at just about all of Bali’s surfing locations. No one gets ordered outta the water at Ulu, unless there a total dickhead. Hey and lets face it, if your coming to Bali then there’s no more a lengendary location than ULUWATU, she put Bali on the surfing map. Ok more frame grabs for images, but that means more video clips, right. An what better way is there to show ya’s how it was down at Ulu today than by looking at the days video footage ? Ok I’d just like to say few hello’s to some of my good friends, Peter McCabe, Jeff Ryan & Andrew Sargent. Just to name a few !
