**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning to ya’s all and thanks for droppin back in to the one and only baliwaves.com for the daily run down on Bali’s surf and weather conditions. Ok, so @ 6.10am is I was down checking conditions on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban (ya see I only live about about 60seconds away and can get just about all the information I need for this report by using the Outers as my indicator, not too mention from sms reports as well). Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport left has dropped off slightly into the 1-2ft+ range. The tide was also still pretty low at that time, but should be pretty close to the high water mark now @ 9.15am. Middle Reef was picking up the most size as usual and there were some ok little waist to head high freakies breaking. More calm and clean conditons for the dawn patrol crew with the wind coming outta the WNW @ 0-2knot. Uluwatu woulda had to have had a few waves in the 3-4ft range for any of the die hard west coast surfers. Over on the East coast surfing conditions woulda been even cleaner with off-shore wind at any location between Green Balls to Keramas. On the weather scene it’s been raining since 5.00am and pretty heavy at times, but hopefully it’ll clear away by midday for just another hot and humid day in Bali. Made has filed his sms surf report from over at Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa and it reads like this. Wave height has also faded a touch on Lakey Peak, droppin back into the 1-2ft range. There was no wind at all @ 8.00am and there were 8 surfers in the water. They also had a few new arrivals turn up yesterday afternoon taking the total number of International surfers in the area to 12. Just for the record, there are direct flights from Bali to Sumbawa and taking surfboards are not a problem. Ok like I mentioned the other day dept; Hamish from QUICKSILVER INDO has started sending baliwaves.com the news on whats happening with the Quicky Grommet team who are currently over in Australia for a series of surfing events. You can find the first installment by following this link https://www.baliwaves.com/Content.aspx?Page=Stories&Section=Read&ID=23
Extreme Caution dept: yesterday afternoon I heard some very heavy news about a girl from Canada who had just arrived in Bali and decided to go out on the town by herself. To cut a long and horrible story short she was drugged, beaten, raped and robbed. Not by an Indonesian !!! but by someone who was described as a tall male caucasion with medium length blong hair and a brand new tatoo on one of his legs “stars”. So girls please take care if your gunna be going out alone ! Exchanging your dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Bali dept; — 1US$=Rp9,075 — 1AU$=Rp7,100 –1NZ$=Rp6,295 — 1UK$=Rp17,100. Oh yeah dept; I’ve also just finished loading up 3 NEW video clips of Keramas, the wind had already swung cross/on-shore when I was shooting but you should still be able to get a fair idea of what it’s like when it is off-shore. They should be visible on baliwaves.com any minute now, so check em out. I’ll keep the reports and info flowing through out the weekend so call in anytime if ya wanna be in the know.
