**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hey good morning crew and thanks for stoppin by for the latest run down on Bali’s surf and weather conditions for today. Well it’s a cracker of a day outside but wave height is checking out and we’re getting down to the nitty gritty. At 6.00am my surf recon of the Outer Reefs wasn’t looking too good but there were a few waist to maybe, just maybe I say, shoulder high waves coming through on Middle Reef . Enough for the crew at Home Base to get motivated, at least they had it all to themselves ! Kuta Reef was breaking, but only just in the knee high class. Likewise down on Airport left . Maybe as the tide starts to run in we might see the slightest of improvment in size, the low tide went down around 8.00am and should be just starting it’s run back in now @ 9.30am. The wind was clean and off-shore first up coming outta the ENE @ 1-2knot so Uluwatu woulda been the best pick here along the West coast but once again only in the waist to head high range. Canggu mighta also had a few smallies on offer. yesterday a few of the home baser’s went and surfed up at Keramas and reckoned it was pretty good @ 2-3ft+. Better swell direction was lining it up nicely into one wedgy peak instead of the two different sections. Today those lads are off to lakey Peak so we’ll hear what they’ve got to say about that leg of the journey when they get back to HB. For the East coast crew your best bet for finding a wave today would be between Nyang Nyangs and Nusa Dua or maybe even back up at Keramas . Speaking of Keramas, it’s no secret location anymore since it’s appeared in just about every surfing DVD that’s come out in the last couple a years. But don’t go asking me where it is… I’d also reckon ya won’t be finding directions in any of the guide type books, unless they’ve been up-dated in the last 12 months. Don’t get me wrong, guide books are very useful and super handy to pull out when eva ya want. I used to use em once apon a time. Speaking of tips, if your a first timer coming over to Bali make sure ya take a good look through the baliwaves.com, from Travel Tips to leaning basic Indonesian, there’s plenty onboard. back on the surfing scene and Made has just phoned in his Lakey Peak surf report from the island of Sumbawa and reckons it almost lake like over at lakey’s today. No one in the water with wave height down in the half to one foot range (actual measurement). An unlike here in Bali the wind was up early coming outta the WSW @ 2-4knot and on-shore. Looking at the swell prediction info on the net this morning and things are not looking like improving much over the next week. How ever we should see a small boost in size sometime around next Monday come Tuesaday. I’m gunna be cranking up my mighty 15Hp Yamaha and doing some fishin I thinks. Hamish, our friend from QUICKSILVER INDONESIA has also filed another up-date on how the Quicksilver Indo Grommet Team are getting on “down under” in Australia and if ya wana check it out hit the high lighted link. (hey Hamish I’m a size 34 waist and size L… heh heh heh) I’d also like to give a special THANKS MATE to the “Doc” who kicked baliwaves.com a hundred bucks yesterday ! That’s the first “thanks boys” we’ve had in the last 4 months of non stop baliwaves and very much appreciated !!! Ok friends of Bali get on with it an have a top day what eva ya got planned, hopefully we’ll get to hook up with ya’s here in Bali in 2007.
