Top Indonesian Quiksilver junior surfers Dylan Amar (Bali), Mustafa (Bali) and Gazali Hamzah (Sumbawa) hit the birthplace of their sponsor to compete in the 8 star Kustom Jetty Pro Junior in Bells Beach, Australia.
Bells Beach, the prestigious and highly tactical wave of the World Circuit Tour is on standby for the highest rating Pro Junior event in Australia – The Jetty Pro. This competition is the first of six events that will see the Quiksilver team competing in for points and not to mention the handsome prize pool of $25,000.
Mustofa, Who is fresh out of his first season on the North Shore of Hawaii will be leading the team with his aggressive style and ruthless gung-ho attack on the bigger days. Recently being crowned Indonesian Surfing Curcuit’s (ISC) Rookie of the year he will certainly do his best to maintain his competitive reputation in the international arena.
Local Legian Beach surfer Dylan Amar who has a devastating attack on waves is certain to hold the Indo flag up high with his raw and powerful California style surfing.
Last but not least is Sumbawa’s super grom, Gazali Hamzah. This micro grom is strong in solid waves and extremely buoyant in the smaller stuff which enables him to slash to the sand.
It will be the second consecutive year Quiksilver has sent this trio to compete in Victoria, Australia. The team will be chaperoned by Quiksilver SE Asia Team Manager Hamish Wyllie who is confident the boys will bring home strong results, “The team is looking pretty good. They are aware that they are up against the best in the world and are pumped to show how high the standard of Indonesian surfing has become. It is an amazing experience for anyone outside of Australia. They’ve been working hard on their surfing and are amped to do well.”
Whilst competing in Bells Beach, Team Quiksilver Indonesia will reside in the Quiksilver house with other top Quiksilver junior surfers from around the globe including Julian Wilson and team manager Paul Patterson (Antman).
The Jetty Pro at Bells Beach will be team Quiksilver Indonesia’s first leg of their five contest campaign. Following Bells is the 7 star Hurley Pro Junior (previously the Brothers Neilson Pro Junior) then the Micheal Peterson Classic at Kirra, followed by the Billabong Junior Series on the Sunshine Coast and Coffs Harbour in NSW.
