**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning to all you surfers who’ve dropped in to the baliwaves again today ! Well I’ve just got back from the 6.30am surf check of the Outer Reefs and as soon as I get this typed and loaded up that’s where you’ll be finding me. Wave height has had another slight increase in size overnight and is coming through in the 2-3ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . There wasn’t any one out in the water surfing at the time, but I’m sure there will be a few heads out there pretty soon. The tide was on the bottom of the low water mark so Middle Reef was the best of the big 3 and looked pretty good peeeling off in the head to head high plus range. Kuta Reef also had some little 2 footers breaking perfectly and should improve some as the tide turns and starts it’s run back in. Airport left had waves upta head high and will also improve through the incoming tide. Surfing conditions here along Bali’s West (best) coastline are clean and smooth this morning with only the slightest touch of Easterly off-shore wind. Mitchel who’s staying here at Home Base with us has already hit the road for Uluwatu and I’m sure it’d be farking cranking down there as I type. In fact I’d also say there’d be some nice little waves breaking at Bingin this morning and likewise when the tide pushes back in Balangan will be another option for the lucky buggers already here on holidays. Weather wise around Tuban and we did have a nice blue sky first up but now at 8.30am we’ve got some cloud moving over and we could be in for some rain at some stage of the day. Listen crew I need a bit of a hand, I only ask when I need to and right now I need your help. I know ya’s all like the video clips I’ve been loading up on baliwaves.com. Well the old Sony has just about packed it in and I now have a once in a lifetime offer to score a Cannon XL2 Video Camera from a professional friend. I’m exactly AU$800.00 short of the mark and have got until Saturday to find it or someone else is on stand by to buy it. Now this camera is around 7 grand to buy new and will get us much closer to the action making the video clips so much better in quality, for your pleasure. So please folks if you can spare a few bucks for the baliwaves cause please, thanks crew. Drop me a line and I’ll tell you how to get it to us.
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; made has filed through his sms surf report and sounds like the boys over there are grinning. Made says wave height is hanging in there at 3-4ft, or a couple a feet over head on the set waves hitting Lakey Peak this morning. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy @ 7.00am and there were 14 surfers riding the perfect left and rights on the Peak . Across at Lakey Pipe there were another 5 surfers getting shacked in the more hollow type waves. There’s also been a few new surfers/guests arrive in the area pushing the total number of visiting surfers up to 50.
No report in from Ray (Kandui Surf Resort / Mentawai islands), but hopefully we’ll have some fresh news in from the Mentawai’s later on in the day for ya’s
