On Monday the 20th, an unseasonal low-pressure system started forming off Fraser Island to the north of Brisbane
Tuesday morning saw the swell starting to pour in from the East South East at around 4-6ft.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a storm wind warning of 40 to 50 knots.
By mid morning those winds kicked in and reeked havoc on the Gold and sunshine coasts as well as Brisbane .
These conditions are expected to last till the end of the week. Gradually easing in strength as the low-pressure system moves eastward over the top of New Zealand . This should see a drop in swell and local winds throughout the weekend and early next week.
All beaches are closed at the moment and there’s been a few guys out on jet skis towing in at Kirra…. which is breaking more like its old self than it has in many years.
The sweep down the point is horrendous and it’s virtually impossible to actually get out the back of Snapper without Jet Ski assistance.
So this could be our last winter south swell… there are still plenty of good waves on offer at the Super bank. With the wind and current its dam hard work but if your lucky enough to get a good one it could be the ride of your life. There are still some crackers peeling through Greenmount /Coolangatta.
I’ve heard a few local guys claiming, “the longest barrel ever”
Stay tuned the next few days should be interesting.
Just a reminder if you want to see past reports, go to the reports section on the left menu click on archives then in the drop down box select Super bank and you will see all the past reports listed by date.
